My elderly parents receive calls from individuals claiming to be Microsoft computer support on a daily basis. Despite being refunded $400, which they were tricked into giving, these scammers persist in contacting them. It is especially distressing for my 80-year-old mother who is caring for my father, who has a terminal illness, at home. We have courteously requested that they stop calling, explaining the emotional toll it takes on my mother, but they simply talk over us and continue. However, I have found a small solution - I've provided my mother with a loud whistle. Whenever she sees their number appear on the caller ID, she blows into it as loudly as possible. Although they still call, they promptly hang up upon hearing my mother's voice. This intrusion onto our lives still occurs, but at least this tactic provides some emotional relief for my mother. I suggest trying this method if you find yourself in a similar situation.

During a phone call, an individual informed me about the presence of spyware and malware on my computer. They transferred me over to a so-called "technician" who claimed to assist me in resolving these issues. Out of curiosity, I decided to play along and see where the conversation would lead. A person with an East Indian accent instructed me to sit in front of my PC as he guided me through the steps to remedy the alleged problems. Suspecting foul play, I abruptly ended the call. Surprisingly, they called me back! Curious as to their motivation, I asked why they were engaging in such actions. Their response was that my computer was experiencing difficulties. However, I promptly dismissed their explanation, informing them that I believed it to be a fabrication since there was absolutely nothing wrong with my computer. Announcing my intention to report their behavior, I swiftly terminated the call. Fortunately, they never attempted to call back again.

I received a phone call this morning regarding a problem with my computer. It surprised me that someone would call at such an early hour, specifically 7:38am! The caller had a strong Indian accent, which immediately made me suspicious and convinced that it was undoubtedly a scam.

The phone rang precisely at 6:55 am in my local time. A gentleman with a strong accent introduced himself and stated that he was contacting me regarding my computer. Suspecting a scam, I promptly voiced my suspicions to him. To my amusement, he responded with a nervous laughter before abruptly ending the call. It is highly unlikely for any respectable company to make such an early morning call.
