Right from the get go, something about it felt off. They kept pushing me to ring this number, saying I was owed £6500 since the government supposedly rewards people like me who pay bills on time and steer clear of dodgy stuff or gambling. They said the £6500 was a kind of bonus with interest. I haven’t bothered calling them back, but I’ve got a strong gut feeling it’s some scam and I’d probably lose money if I did.

Got a call telling me I could get £4500 and that I should ring them back for details. Didn’t bother calling them though.

The number showed up as +20 3 2897044, which I reckon is tied to some call centre in Egypt. At first, the phone made a ringing sound, almost like I was calling them or something. Then, some bloke answered with a weird accent, kinda like a stereotypical Ugandan one. Couldn’t get my name or address right at all - not a single bit - and kept trying to repeat it back. He claimed he was calling about a mortgage or loan I supposedly just cleared. I asked him, “Which mortgage are you on about?” and he shot back, “What mortgage have you just paid off then?” I just hung up there and then. Sure enough, he rang back almost immediately but I didn’t bother picking up. Honestly, this guy sounded dodgier than Del Boy himself.
