They're definitely genuine. I’ve been sorting out a tax debt I had completely overlooked, and these folks are a debt collection company. I ring this number quite often just to check I'm making the payments on time. If you’re unsure, have a look at their ABOUT US section on their website. Today, I received a call followed by a text from this number, telling me to ring back and giving a reference number. It claimed to be from the ATO, but it felt totally fishy since all my ATO business is sorted and handled by my accountant. Just a heads up, watch out!

This number called me and started asking loads of personal stuff. When I wanted to know why they needed it, they said it was for security reasons and couldn’t explain any more. Then, just before hanging up, they admitted they’d called the wrong person by accident.
