Got a letter telling me to ring this number between certain hours about something “important.” There was no company name, logo, or anything to say who sent it. I looked it up online and saw loads of posts on various forums warning about this number, so I’m not bothering to call back. It’s definitely dodgy!

We got the same thing, the last name and address were right but the first name was totally different from anyone in our family. Feels a bit sketchy to me, so no way am I ringing them back.

So, we called this number and asked them to provide proof of the account since we don’t owe anything. We’ve been waiting for ages but nothing came through. Then suddenly, they slapped a default on my credit file! There wasn’t even any default before. How is that even allowed when we never admitted to owing anything? Proper annoyed about this.

They mentioned Bay Corp but when I looked up the number it showed Bancorp instead. They said I had an unpaid default account and wanted my bank info to sort it out. I asked them to prove it by sending a copy of the Telstra bill since I hasn’t had Telstra services in over eight years. Never got any paperwork, yet somehow this default was marked on my credit report. That’s completely inaccurate.

I got a missed call from someone claiming to be from Bay Corp, asking me to ring them back on 1300 139 203. I wasn't sure what it was regarding, so to be on the safe side, I looked up their official website and called the number listed there instead of the one they left. The person I spoke to couldn’t assist me and put me on hold for ages. Eventually, someone else picked up, sounding like they were somewhere else, but they only wanted my date of birth. I didn’t feel comfortable giving it, so I refused. She then said she couldn't explain the purpose of the call. I gave them a P.O. Box address to send any info through the post and now I'm just waiting to see if anything arrives.

Got this note through the post from Baycorp but it didn’t have any official letterhead. It was about some bill from like ten years ago, which I already sorted out. I asked them to provide proof of the debt because I don’t owe anything. Haven’t heard back. Also, the caller was an Asian lady.

A well legit company would always use official letterhead and make sure all the info is spot on, including referencing the issue properly. Without these things, it’s just nonsense. There’s loads of scammers and fraud going around these days...

Got a weird letter today (12-12-2016), with no company logo, marked "Private and Confidential" and it told me to call 1300558829 about something 'urgent'. I decided to call. A woman with an Asian accent answered and asked for my date of birth for ID purposes. I said no way, I’m not giving personal info to strangers to avoid identity fraud. She insisted she needed to confirm my identity. I said, surely she could tell it’s me since she sent the letter and I even quoted the file number on it. She wouldn’t say what the call was about, so I just ended the call.

I got a call once about an old electricity bill debt from about six years ago. They wanted personal info, but I wasn’t giving them anything since I've heard that Baycorp might be dodgy. At first, I spoke with an Asian woman who asked the same stuff others have mentioned here, then not long after, a different man rang me. It’s all a bit fishy, seems like they pick people who might just fall for their tricks to squeeze money out of them. What baffles me is why they’re suddenly after me now, after all this time, when the repayments stopped six years ago and everything should have been sorted out then.

Got a letter today telling me to ring them about some urgent thing. Seems a bit dodgy to me. Won't be calling back, especially since the name on it isn't even mine.

I rang the number and gave them the reference code. They wanted me to confirm my name and address, but I refused until they told me what this was all about. The person said Baycorp was a debt collection agency working for both government and private firms, and that without verification, they couldn’t share more info. I mentioned the name on their letter was wrong and definitely not mine. After that, he said he’d delete my details because the name had three different addresses attached, one of which was mine. He then read out my landline number and asked me to confirm it, which I did. He promised to remove that number from their records too, so I wouldn’t get any more letters from Baycorp. Not once did he ask me my real name...

A couple of days back, my daughter got a ring from this number. She told me the guy on the line had an Asian accent. He tried to get her to share personal info, like her address. She gave him her current address but he said it wasn’t the right one. Then, strangely, he mentioned a place she used to live. When she asked what it was all about, he just said he couldn’t explain. Then, out of the blue, a few days later, a mate called to say she’d received a letter from something called Body Corp Collection Agency. The letter had no signature or name at the bottom, just told her to ring back this number.

Got a letter marked 'Private and confidential' today telling me to call 1300558829. At the bottom it said it was from "Baycorp (Aust) Pty Ltd". When I phoned, a guy with an Asian accent asked me for the reference number on the letter. I gave it to him but then he said he needed my date of birth to access the file. That was when I got suspicious and told him I wasn’t sharing that info.

Pretty sure it’s some kind of identity theft scam.
