118977 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 118977 👆 is reported as a scam where callers accidentally dial a premium rate number by omitting the initial zero in local Reading area codes, leading to unexpected high charges around £16 for just a few seconds. The number is linked to a company suspected of deliberately choosing numbers that look similar to legitimate ones. Many users have experienced this issue and faced difficulty getting help from their providers, though some have had charges removed by contacting BT. It appears operators can block such premium numbers, but this isn’t always offered as a standard solution. I got hit with the same thing, got charged £16.11 for just six seconds! From what I gather, the number seems to be owned by mediatelecom Ltd or something like that.

i meant to ring 0118 977xxxx but accidentally dialled 118977 instead. the call dropped almost immediately, like 0.04 seconds or so. now ee has billed me £16.09 and i think that’s totally unfair. is there any way to sort this out? feels like a rip off.

I got hit with over £16 for a call that lasted just a couple of seconds. I was trying to ring an 0118977 number but somehow ended up somewhere else. No clue who they were, and BT said there's nothing they can do about it!
