On my recent Plusnet bill from Feb 2025, I noticed two fees for calls made to 118500, but I honestly don’t recall dialling that number. When I got in touch, Plusnet were quite helpful and assured me they'd refund the £7.95 charged. Still, it bugs me that their bill just labels the calls as ‘other’ without giving any details. The customer service rep did explain that 118500 is actually a premium service number, yet this info wasn’t shown anywhere on the statement itself. Seems odd they wouldn’t make that clearer at the start.

A mate sent me this number for calling about a BT landline problem, but charging me £14.91 for it which was a rip off. Turns out it’s not the right number to sort BT line faults. If you need to contact BT about a fault, dial 0330 1234 150 instead.

rang a UK business and ended up at some call centre in the Philippines, cost me £12.18. tried calling 08448090222 on June 9th about 16:17. call lasted just 7 seconds but charged quickly, was confused coz the operator didn’t even connect the call properly. total rip off and didn’t get through to anyone!

There’s a charge from 118500 on my mum’s phone bill but she was in hospital so she couldn’t have rung them. It’s cost her £1.20 and now we’re trying to get the money back from the provider.

It’s showing up on my father in law’s phone bill but he’s never actually called it, he’s checked his call history. Fingers crossed the post office looks into it and sort out a refund.

I saw this number on my recent bill even though I never called it - they charged me £7.50 for 1 minute 40 seconds. Luckily, Orange was decent enough to refund me. Feels bad for anyone else getting scammed if they're with this provider.
