On my BT bill for June 2023, I noticed four separate charges of 40p each for MMS messages. Three were all sent on exactly the same day, just minutes apart, and the last one came about eight days after. I'm curious what BT’s explanation for this might be?

Once again, I find myself with EE, and they've slapped me with charges for calling 10020250100-a number I've never even dialled or messaged. My daughter, who kindly takes care of my bills, is puzzled about an additional £20 charge on top of our regular monthly fee. She assumed I'd been making calls to that number, but this does seem quite unjust.

I have no doubt that this number is fraudulent. It appeared on my bill, linked to MMS services, which I never utilize. I’m not sure if I received a call from it or dialled it myself, as it never registered on my phone. In October, it called me a dozen times, and I discovered it listed on my Utility Warehouse statement at a cost of 25 pence each time. Thankfully, Utility Warehouse promptly allocated a credit back to my account and provided instructions on how to prevent any future calls from that number.

Got a call from someone in the USA - they said BT refunded me 40p and added a note to my mobile account. Bit concerned this could be some kind of test from the States, not sure what the end game is.

I’ve got charged four times 40p for supposedly sending an MMS to this number. It’s not loads of cash but I can’t figure out how it happened. I’m thinking I’m lucky it wasn’t a bigger amount, I’m planning to check with BT about it.

Just got my bill and they charged me 80p. Both calls show the exact same time. It says mms, which I don’t really understand. Why would someone call me twice at the same moment? I’m gonna contact BY and figure out what’s going on.

I've noticed I've been hit with three MMS charges from this number, yet I haven't the foggiest idea who it belongs to. To make matters even more puzzling, I've no recollection of making any calls associated with it. To top it all off, two of those charges occurred on the very same day and at the exact same time! What on earth could be going on?

I’ve been billed 3 times 40p for MMS messages I never sent. This isn’t the first time it’s happened on my BT bills either. I’ve now disabled MMS on my phone. Surely BT can just block this number for good? 10020250100. I don’t even use messages anymore.

I've just noticed a peculiar charge of £1.20 on my recent statement. It's rather strange since I've only had the phone for a mere three days. Can’t wrap my head around how it managed to fire off three messages without my knowledge! I definitely didn’t send them, mind you. If they were the result of some dodgy calls, I’ve got no record of that either, as I always hang up the moment I sniff out a scam. Honestly, I’m completely perplexed by the entire situation!

I shot off a text to four different contacts and ended up getting charged by BT for MMS messages-40 pence each! On top of that, they hit me with another 40 pence for sending an MMS to the number +10020250100. Apparently, it’s linked to some Apple settings and the EE network, which is causing my phone to send messages like emails instead of standard texts. I’ve been told that +10020250100 is an Apple-related number. To be honest, I'm a bit clueless on how to tweak the settings, but the good news is that BT has sorted me out with a refund!

I’ve just noticed a charge of £0.50 on my account for a picture message sent to Canada/USA on the 19th of March at 21:45. To be honest, I don’t recall sending any such message, let alone one overseas. This has me quite perplexed, and I’ll be contacting Virgin Mobile to get to the bottom of it right away. While scanning through my call history, I found two incoming calls listed as "No Caller ID" alongside two calls from a UK number that starts with 07785, which I don’t recognise at all. Additionally, there’s a 42-second outgoing call to that unknown number, though I have absolutely no memory of making it. Curiously, none of my logs show any activity at that specific time. What concerns me is if they can manage to take £0.50 out like this, who's to say they couldn’t escalate that charge to £50 or even more? It’s alarming, and I truly hope steps are taken to tackle this sort of scam before it spirals further.

I've had a bill for £7.20 because of 18 MMS calls from the number 10020250100. Cheers to those who have tried to explain what's happening, but I still don’t really get it (maybe I'm just too old for this tech stuff). With the virus going around, BT aren’t taking calls right now and there’s no help at all on their official support pages or on the BT Community forums. All I want is to know how to block this number on my phone. Is it really that hard to put that info up somewhere?!

Just to add to my earlier message about getting hit with about 18 charged calls from this number, 10020250100. I rang BT, and they were really helpful trying to sort it out. The bloke on support said he hadn’t come across this issue on an Android before, only on iPhones. He reckoned it was something to do with the phone settings, not BT, who provide my mobile. We had a look but couldn’t find any setting that was sending texts as pictures to email addresses or anything. Still, he was kind enough to waive the £7.20 bill as a goodwill thing :-)

I received a bill from EE for picture messages that I didn’t even send! When I contacted EE about it, they claimed I had sent an email with emojis - which is utterly baffling! I really don’t think that’s feasible. On top of that, I've just signed a fresh broadband deal with BT, and I can't shake the feeling it might be some sort of scam linked to them. I will definitely be having a word with BT about this.

Just like others here, I got charged for a pic message I never sent. Went to the EE shop and they had no clue about this sort of scam. I have no idea how to block it since I never sent it at all. Rang EE and the girl on the phone didn’t seem to understand, so fingers crossed it won’t happen again.

I keep receiving dodgy emails from a person who claims to be called Mary, urging me to check out some sketchy website for a supposed meet-up. It’s clearly a scam designed to fish for your account details; only a fool would fall for such nonsense! Out of sheer frustration, I ended up tracking down the corresponding phone number and gave it a ring, which in hindsight was a foolish move. I also managed to suss out an email [email protected] to block them. In a fit of rage, I not only called that number but also fired off some rather unpleasant messages. Now, to my annoyance, it seems EE is going to hit me with charges for two picture messages that I never even sent after checking my phone. My top tip? Save the number and then block those bastards!

We ran into the identical issue where we got billed thrice at 40p each for the same number. Turns out, we were unknowingly sending texts to an email address rather than an actual mobile phone number. From what we gathered, BT uses EE, who use this number (10020250100) to turn the text into an email, which leads to the fees. The emails typically end up in the recipient’s junk folder because they don’t include a subject line. Now we double-check to only send texts to genuine mobile numbers and avoid email addresses.

Absolutely, I had a similar experience just last month where the total bill came to £2.40. Thankfully, BT was quite understanding and issued a refund. However, I’m now left wondering what steps to take to prevent this from recurring in the future. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

This month, I noticed a charge of 50p for a picture message allegedly sent to that number, but I simply haven’t done so-I never send picture messages at all! After seeing all these remarks, I’ve decided it’s high time I got in touch with Virgin, my mobile provider!

My missus has seen her BT bill hit four separate charges of 40p from this number. It all happened when she inadvertently sent five photo messages (MMS) to our lad. We can certainly stomach those charges since they're the right amount. What baffles us, however, is why we've been racked up with this dubious fee. We’ve been attempting to block the number on her iPhone, but so far, no luck at all!

Noticed this number showed up 4 times as extra fees on my missus’ phone bill, all marked as MMS rather than SMS. Managed to get BT to give me a £2 refund though. When I checked the contacts, it turned out some saved straight onto the phone automatically sent messages as MMS. So now I’m going through every contact one by one, making sure they’re all backed up to a Google account instead.

I've encountered the same issue with Vodafone, who have billed me for picture messages directed to the USA that I’ve never even attempted to send. It’s been a bit of a dead end, to be honest; they’ve only offered to investigate further. Their records state that one supposedly originated from my handset on the 7th of June at 11:44, detailing a picture message sent to Canada and the United States, with the reference 0010020250100. Strangely enough, I wasn’t charged, but still, it leaves me baffled!

Got this number showing up on my phone bill with a 40p charge. Took me a minute but I figured it out. I meant to text someone but mustve tapped their email address by accident on their contact info. They tried replying to that email but it just bounced back. I reckon the 40p is for sending a text as an email. Maybe you’ve done something similar. It’s kinda like when you send a text to a landline by mistake.

Yesterday morning, at precisely 07:26 on the 21st of June 2019, I found myself billed 40p by BT for sending a message to this number. The puzzling part is, I haven't a clue who they are, so it’s a mystery as to why I would even bother messaging them in the first place!
BT

Should you find yourself using an iPhone and attempt to send an iMessage without being linked to Wi-Fi, you'll notice that the message simply won't go through. However, if you press and hold on the message that didn’t send, you might be prompted to dispatch it via the recipient’s email instead. Keep an eye out for the timestamp, as it might reflect GMT. Have you perhaps sent an iMessage during those specific times which you later opted to forward to an email? It could be worthwhile to check against your message timeline and any associated expenses.

I'm currently a Virgin customer and I've noticed some perplexing charges on my account. On May 2nd at 12:10, I was billed for a picture message sent to the USA and Canada for £0.50, and again on the same day for another picture message. Then on May 11th, yet another £0.50 charge appeared for the same service - all from the number 0010020250100. Frankly, I've never sent a picture message in my life, nor do I have any acquaintances across the pond. This whole situation seems rather dodgy. Virgin ought to look into this issue promptly, as I'm contemplating a switch to Vodafone if it isn't sorted soon.

I've been with Virgin for a while now, and I've noticed some odd charges on my bill. On May 11, I was billed £0.50 for a picture message sent to a number that begins with 0010020250100, which apparently is linked to both Canada and the USA. This isn’t an isolated incident; I see that I was charged the same amount for similar messages on May 2 at 12:10 as well. The troubling part? I've never sent a picture message in my life and don't have any contacts in North America. It certainly seems fishy, and I reckon Virgin ought to look into this issue. If this continues, I might just consider switching over to Vodafone!

I've encountered the identical issue. On the 24th of February, I got hit with a 50p charge for a picture message sent to this number. I rang up Virgin, and after what felt like an endless back-and-forth and sifting through my bill, they ultimately refunded me the 50p. Since I don’t usually send picture messages, I've requested Virgin to stop them altogether. Previously, I had a similar problem with premium rate numbers, so I've asked them to block those too.

I've also noticed a charge of 50p for what’s claimed to be a picture message sent to the USA or CANADA. The bizarre part is that on the date this supposedly occurred, I was enjoying my time in the Canary Islands and certainly didn't send any picture message. After looking into it, I discovered the number it was supposedly sent to, 0010020250100, has been the source of many complaints from others who faced similar issues with calls to that same number. I raised the matter with Virgin, and they were kind enough to agree to a refund, but they recklessly suggested that I must have sent the picture via “WhatsApp” to a friend who happened to be in the USA at the time. That’s absolutely nonsensical; if I had done that, I would’ve dialled my mate's actual number rather than this odd American one! I was warned to be cautious, as they will only issue a refund this one time! It seems they’re well aware of some ongoing issue but are too reluctant to acknowledge it.

I’m on EE and I noticed a charge of 40p on my bill dated 27th June 2018 for an international picture message. After rummaging through my texts for that specific date and time, it turns out I accidentally sent a message to an email address, which explains the 40p fee. The whole thing is muddied by the confusing description of the picture message and a random phone number. Ultimately, it boils down to just messaging an email!

Back in April 2018, I noticed a charge of 40p on my BT mobile bill for ringing that number. I thought I may have mistakenly added an emoji to my message. The same issue cropped up again in May, and by June, I found myself hit with an 80p charge for two calls. After having a chat online with BT, they followed up with a link to a forum discussing this number, and to my relief, they agreed to refund the 80p charge from June. I'm using a Samsung phone, but the forum only provided guidance for blocking the number on iPhones. Does anyone have any tips for blocking it on a Samsung?

I noticed a charge from Virgin for four separate photo messages sent to this number on Saturday, December 16th, 2017, none of which I had sent or created. Once I brought it to their attention, I was quickly refunded. It raises some eyebrows about whether this number, supposedly linked to the USA or Canada, could be tied to some sort of security concern, perhaps even connected with WhatsApp. It seems from other users' experiences that Virgin is aware of the issue but hasn't quite sorted it out yet.

Today, on Monday 4th December 2017, I reached out to Virgin Mobile regarding a similar ordeal with a certain number, supposedly linked to both Canada and the USA. They insinuated that I might have an app responsible for these calls, which I vehemently denied. To add to my frustration, I was sound asleep when these calls were placed-five of them, no less, all within a mere eight-minute span. I'm baffled as to why Virgin didn’t inform me that they were already aware of this troublesome number. They advised me to do a bit of Googling to uncover its origin, but I’m still in the dark. Moreover, there’s been an unwarranted £3 charge on my wife’s phone for exceeding her internet usage, despite the fact she rarely uses her phone for browsing and prefers her iPad. It really feels like OFCOM needs to step in, especially considering this has been a persistently nagging issue for the past couple of years.

I've noticed multiple charges over the past few weeks, and whenever I've raised the issue, I've been reimbursed. However, I think I’ve stumbled upon the reason behind the latest charges. I’ve recently discovered something rather surprising while using BT Mobile. If you send a text that includes an emoji, such as a cheeky smiley, it can be transformed into an MMS message, costing you an extra £0.40! This came to light when I was sending a brief message to Germany. The text itself rang up at £0.252, but then there was an unexpected £0.40 charge for the emoji conversion. I noticed this peculiar charge on my bill linked to the number +10020250100. Quite the sneaky little revelation, wouldn’t you say?

I noticed an odd charge of 40p showing up twice on my BT invoice - it left the customer service folks baffled. As it turns out, that amount goes straight to BT, but it appears to originate from various companies, so it might just be a glitch in their system rather than a scam. After all, BT seems to be the one benefiting from this little mix-up. If there's something shady going on internally, it seems like someone has a soft spot for their superior!
