I was so confused when I got a 'voicemail' from a mate I’d just messaged moments ago - obviously they wouldn’t send that! In that split second, it’s so easy to get caught off guard and not think it through properly. My mum’s been quite poorly for the last few months, and since we’ve been keeping in touch via Zoom, she actually recognised this number and thought it was her mate Jenny calling. Luckily she phoned me first - as soon as she read out the first couple of digits, I told her straight up it was one of those expensive premium numbers and probably a scam. I get finances are tight these days, but taking advantage of vulnerable folks like this is just shameful!
