I called that number and ended up getting billed twenty quid for just ten minutes... definitely avoid calling it!

I rang this number thinking it was the DWP, but after being on hold for ages without anyone answering, I hung up. When I checked my phone bill later, I saw I’d been charged £39.69 for that call! Then I found out it wasn’t the official DWP number at all - their real line is actually a free 0800 number. I’m stuck now because I can’t afford these unexpected charges, and not sure how to sort this out.

I’m really annoyed right now, my phone bill came in and this number charged me over £10 on the first call and more than £15 on the second. Because of this, my bill shot up to about £70 this month! Seriously, how on earth can they get away with charging that much for just a quick call? Even if I was loaded, I wouldn’t fork out that kind of money for a minute or two. I want some proper explanations and I’m expecting a refund pretty sharpish.

On the 14th January 2019, I noticed charges of £23.20, £8.25, £3.66, and £9.73 on my account. I never rang that number. How can I get my money back?

Hello, I just got my Vodafone bill and noticed a strange charge for a phone call I made to the DWP on the 6th of January. The call lasted about 33 minutes, but I was shocked to see it cost me £70.74! I spoke to Vodafone about it and they told me to raise this issue directly with you. It seems very unreasonable for a government department call to cost that much. Can someone please get in touch with me urgently? I expect these fees to be taken off my Vodafone account right away. My phone suddenly got blocked from making calls and sending texts. I rang up Vodafone, as I always pay my bills on time every single month and have been doing so for three years. They said it was because I'd dialled 09083 16500, which ran up a £65 charge. I've never actually called that number before, that's why I'm trying to find out who owns it. If anyone can shed some light on it, I'd really appreciate the help. Cheers!
