Absolute scam artists! I just don’t get why phone companies won’t back their paying customers who get hammered by these illegal calls. They must be making some cash from it, helping these crooks along the way, yet they should be slapped with a hefty fine, like £1 million for every nuisance call, just as the law demands. The government brought in rules to stop this rubbish, so why aren’t they cracking down on it? Scammers always seem to be miles ahead of the law - typical UK mess. If they can’t sort this out, it’s another reason I’m seriously considering moving my business overseas, paying taxes to a government that actually supports its people, you know, like they’re supposed to. England’s just keen on making life hard for the youngsters and pensioners, it’s utterly shameful!

Watch out for calls that last about 3 minutes, I got charged £14 for one. It might not even be you who’s making the call, could be someone else at home. I’d recommend asking your phone company to block any calls to premium rate numbers.

this is a classic premium rate scam linked to a tv wordsearch competition, i saw an advert today on channel 4 during countdown. supposedly you can ‘win’ £9,500 if you spot the name of a british tv game show (not surprisingly the word was countdown) in a wordsearch shown on screen, and another £2,000 for finding the name of a colour (brown). both words were clear straight away as soon as the puzzle came up. pretty obvious this is aimed at taking advantage of older people.

Saw this ad on Channel 4 during Countdown today, and it’s one of those premium rate scams pretending to be a TV Wordsearch competition. They claim you can “win” £9,500 if you spot a British TV game show’s name (which was pretty much obviously Countdown), plus another £2,000 if you pick out a colour (it was brown). Both answers were plain as day as soon as the puzzle came up.

Pretty clear this dodgy scheme is meant to trick older folks.
