Fraudsters. Why do phone companies refuse to assist their loyal customers who are being affected by this unlawful practice? It's because they benefit from it, thus aiding these criminals, and they should be fined a sum of £1 million for every irritating call, as stipulated by the law. Why doesn't the government enforce the recently implemented legislation to put a stop to this? How come the scammers always stay ten steps ahead of the authorities? The reason is none other than the United Kingdom! If they can't provide assistance, it just gives me another reason to relocate my company to another country that has a government truly committed to supporting their citizens in line with the laws and agreements. England seems to take pleasure in causing harm to both the young and elderly. It is truly appalling!

Me mum rang this number - she musta seen it on some telly show. 10 quid and 91p were nicked off her. They really hammer TV licence dodgers with the law, even stuff what'd normally get you an "Out Of Court Disposal" gets proper court action, no joke.

There was a contest on ITV and when I called, it just said unavailable. I honestly didn’t think it was a scam as it was on TV. I was only connected for a few seconds but I’m already expecting my phone bill to be huge. How come these sorts of things are allowed to be shown on telly if they’re just scams???

I am disappointed that I was charged £14.97 for a call that I never made and Virgin refuses to block it. Unfortunately, I had a similar experience with BT. It is alarming how these companies can allow such scams to continue despite receiving complaints. I believe that the phone companies should bear responsibility for allowing us to fall victim to these scams. It should come as no surprise that they profit from these incidents.

I totally got tricked into thinking I’d won £11,000, but now I see it’s just a scam. I’m not gonna call them again. Thought it was legit since it was a comp on national telly, but turns out I got played. Glad I found out before losing any cash, cheers to everyone on here for helping me avoid getting scammed.

We have recently settled the telephone bill for our ageing parents with the post office provider. Surprisingly, we discovered that two calls were made from their number and it is quite puzzling how incoming calls can result in charges. It's worth mentioning that our parents have an ex-directory number. One cannot help but wonder what actions are being taken by the service providers and Ofcom to prevent such fraudulent activities.

This is a pricey number aimed at older folks. They trick you into believing you’ve won some kind of quiz. It’s awful behaviour and those dodgy people behind this business deserve to be called out and embarrassed. Not a hint of honesty anywhere.

This scan has been legalized and approved, which is clear theft. Do you think our well-compensated politicians, regulators, operators, and even more highly compensated lawyers will actually do something or take any action? I leave that up to your imagination. It's disheartening that we are quickly resembling a developing country and yet nobody appears to be concerned. It's truly saddening.

its shocking to see what looks like a scam being shown on prime time tv. surely the channel airing it should be held accountable, or maybe the ombudsman needs to step in. why dont the ads clearly say how much it costs before people ring? waiting until youve called is just unfair and misleading.

this is a classic premium rate scam linked to a tv wordsearch competition, i saw an advert today on channel 4 during countdown. supposedly you can ‘win’ £9,500 if you spot the name of a british tv game show (not surprisingly the word was countdown) in a wordsearch shown on screen, and another £2,000 for finding the name of a colour (brown). both words were clear straight away as soon as the puzzle came up. pretty obvious this is aimed at taking advantage of older people.

Beware of a fraudulent contest called TV Wordsearch, being advertised on Channel 4 during the show Countdown. This scam targets vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly. The ad promises a prize of £9,500 if you spot the name of a British TV Game Show (unsurprisingly, it is Countdown) in a wordsearch displayed on your screen. Additionally, there is an extra £2,000 reward if you find the word "brown," representing a color. It becomes clear right away that both words are intentionally easy to spot in the wordsearch. Remain cautious and do not fall for this scam.
