I stumbled upon this number on the HMRC site, so I decided to give them a ring. To my dismay, I was kept on hold multiple times, and they never got around to addressing my query. To top it all off, they billed me £36 for a mere 10 minutes! It was quite an unpleasant ordeal, especially considering it was linked to the HMRC website!

It seems that this particular number is associated with a firm known as A2b Technologies - and I must say, the charges are outrageous! They appear to acquire business numbers in such a way that callers are oblivious to the fact they're dialing a premium rate line. According to BT, they're unable to assist, but I firmly believe that if sufficient individuals voiced their concerns, they could certainly take action to rectify the situation.
