These expensive numbers ought to be dialed only when you’re making a call. They should NEVER be answered, except maybe if it’s some sort of foreign scammer. Pick up any 09 number and you’re likely getting stung. Have a look at previous comments to find tips on handling such calls but don’t just wait for someone else to fix it. If you do end up picking up one of these calls by mistake, make sure to check your phone bill right away and demand your money back from your provider. If you ring back, forget about getting anything refunded.

Got a call from this number a moment ago, and I picked up right away! I caught something that sounded like “big fat scam” so I hung up straight away. Looked them up here and read what others said, then phoned EE to report it. They advised me to check my bill in case I got charged just for picking up, and to block the number - which I have done. I’m also going to report it to Action Fraud. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, really helpful.

I was waiting for a different caller, so didn’t bother checking who was ringing. When I picked up, there was complete quiet, no idea who it was but since it’s a premium rate number, I’m definitely not calling them back to figure it out.

09 numbers are mostly for things like contests, voting on TV shows, horoscope readings, chat services, adult calls and expert helplines. Got a really annoying message from an American lady saying I was number # in a waiting line, then she suddenly changed it to say I’d never reach the front cause I’m dead last and won’t talk to anyone. Then they just cut the call. Was 7.30am as well. Honestly, better to not pick up and just block straight away.

If you end up getting billed just for picking up this scam call, you might want to see if your phone company can refund you. Don’t bother calling them back though, it’s a trap. Totally agree with the earlier comment, these #### need to get stopped - will follow the advice given. Not sure if it’ll help but gotta try something. These calls are seriously getting on my nerves.

Got a ring from this number moments ago. It only buzzed twice before stopping. I thought I'd call back since my plan has unlimited free mins but it redirected me to an 02 number asking for top-up. Just had a ring from this number, I said "hello?" but didn’t say who I was, and they hung up straight away. Got me curious so I rang back (bit daft, I know), but I made sure my phone didn’t show my number this time. When they picked up, some bloke with a thick American accent said, "calls to this number are charged," all distant and weird. So I hung up there. I’m guessing I’m out of pocket about £3.10 - £1.55 for taking the first call and another £1.55 for calling back, unless there’s an extra fee I’m missing?

I didn't pick up when they rang. According to this site, it appears to be a premium rate number. It’s likely just another bothersome call or, even worse, I’d end up with a hefty bill to return the call. Best to steer clear, block them, or simply let it ring!

This number 0902 261 0013 kept calling but I never picked up, now I’ve just blocked it. I usually don’t bother with these sort of calls, if it was important they’d leave a message. Wish there was a proper way to get rid of these calls for good.

Received a call from 0902 2610013 earlier on. I decided not to pick up at first. Oddly enough, the call dropped, but it rang again right away, so I thought it might be urgent. As soon as I said hello, though, the line went dead. I'm now regretting answering and hoping I won’t be left with a hefty bill for it... - caller: 0902 261 0013

Today, I received a call from the number 09022610013, and to my utter dismay, I discovered that these calls are charged at a rate of £1 per minute. What a dreadful situation! Those charlatans deserve nothing less than to suffer for their deceitful ways!

My phone, an Android, flagged this number as risky. I figured I’d better not take the chance, so I just ignored the call and went ahead and blocked it. Who wants to risk it, right?
