We're experiencing the same issue-this number seems to deduct money from our account every morning at 4:55 am, and we’ve never once contacted this number! What on earth is going on?

We frequently notice on our BT statement that we’re hit with charges for premium rate calls. Out of sheer curiosity, we decided to contact BT to find out which premium number we supposedly dialled, and they gave us the number 09017675093. The odd part is, we’ve never called that number at all! To get to the bottom of this mystery, we took the plunge and called the number ourselves. To our surprise, the line connected, only to be filled with strange sounds, and there was no one on the other end. We're just trying to piece together who these folks are and why we’ve been billed for a call we never made.

It appears that I've been victim to a sneaky rogue dialler that’s been placing calls from my computer. If you're in the same boat, you might want to reach out to the premium rate regulator, PhonepayPlus. You can find them at their website www.phonepayplus.org.uk. As for the charges racked up from these unsolicited calls, I’ve learned that my service provider won’t reimburse me, and it seems the governing body will confirm this. I came across some useful information on bt.com regarding BT Privacy Online, which is a complimentary software you can download. It’s important to note that it requires your permission before any of those 09 numbers are dialled from your PC.

Hello there! I’ve gone ahead and asked BT to block any outgoing calls to premium rate numbers, and the best part is, it’s a service they provide at no cost. This should put an end to those pesky outgoing calls. Fingers crossed this proves useful!

We've been charged £18.70 plus VAT-can you believe it? BT seems to be complicit in this dodgy scheme! These individuals are pocketing a cut of the cash while claiming back the VAT! We're thinking about ringing up about all our accounts since this nonsense kicked off and demanding a full refund; if not, it might be time to alert the fraud squad to look into it. We recommend others consider doing likewise!

I could really use some assistance here. We're finding that this number is racking up to a staggering 74% of our bill. How do I go about cancelling this?

It seems to be emitting noises reminiscent of an old-fashioned fax machine.

I’ve just spotted a dubious charge on this month’s bill from August - a whopping 108 calls to the number 09017675093. It’s baffling, as we’ve hardly been available to even pick up the phone, what with being on holiday or busy at work. I reached out to Tiscali, but they’ve no clue about the identity of the caller. Strangely, I’ve come to discover that this number has been popping up on every single bill since we signed up with Tiscali back in March 2007. Is there any chance we could get a refund for these mysterious calls?

We're experiencing the same issue - this particular number has been popping up on our bill at 4:55 in the morning every single day, and we’ve never even made a call to it! Quite baffling, to say the least. 🤔

Come off it, folks! The prices are plastered all over the packaging and the documents. Do you really think that a handful of tiny ads is footin’ the bill for all those phone calls and the extensive behind-the-scenes infrastructure that keeps the E-phones operational, just like these companies do? Honestly, do you think Amstrad is handing out a phone for £30 when it likely costs them over twice that to produce (there’s a fully functioning mini PC in there after all!) without recouping the expenses somewhere along the line? Let’s be a bit pragmatic here. - Mark.

Has anyone here heard of the Amstrad emailer? I reckon that’s where those posh ringtones originated from!

It seems we’re dealing with a similar predicament here. Our bill indicates that a certain number has been dialling the same line each day at precisely 00:25, lasting anywhere from 23 to 25 minutes, racking up a charge of 0.17 pence per call. I can’t help but suspect it might be some sort of dialling software on our computer, though I’ve scoured the system without any luck. We do possess a Hewlett Packard all-in-one printer and fax machine-could it be that this is somehow connecting and making calls to HP? I’m curious if anyone else encountering this issue has an HP device hooked up that could shed some light on what’s going on!

Hello there! I’ve asked BT to block all outgoing calls to premium rate numbers, and they’ve done it without charging me a penny. Hopefully, this will put an end to those outgoing calls. Fingers crossed it works for you too!

We received a bill for £18.70 plus VAT - can you believe that? It seems BT is turning a blind eye to what appears to be a complete con! These folks are pocketing a slice of the cash while they shout about reclaiming the VAT. We're seriously mulling over the idea of ringing up to review all our accounts since this dodgy business got underway, and if we don’t see some action, we won’t hesitate to alert the fraud squad. We reckon you all should take the same route!
