My mum rang my sister-in-law on her mobile, mum’s with Sky and sis-in-law’s on EE. The call showed up as possible fraud on my sister-in-law’s phone so she blocked it. Then she rang mum back from the real number to let her know and asked her to ring her again. When mum called back it showed her normal number, not the dodgy one. This is quite strange, especially after reading other comments about Sky mobile calls doing this to loads of older, vulnerable folks.

Looking at the comments here, sounds like it's a problem somewhere with Sky. My missus called my mobile from hers. The first time the call dropped out. The second time it went through. She’s with Sky, I’m not. I picked up because her name showed on the caller ID the first time, not sure if it did the second time or I just thought it was her. The line was really choppy so I rang her back. After that, my call log showed the incoming call from her was originally hers but got cancelled. The second call showed this number instead. When I called back, it came up as her number again.

Oddly, a different number appeared on my call list, and when I tried ringing it back, it said the number wasn’t recognised. CAUTION! Took a call from this number, and to my surprise, it turned out to be my dear mother, who only has a landline and a completely different number! I immediately told her to hang up and I would ring her back. Just out of curiosity, I tapped the call icon that appeared on my screen, only to find that the dialed number was this 0879 one instead of my mum's. WATCH OUT! I picked up a call from this number & it was actually my elderly mum. I told her to put down the phone & said I'd ring her again.
