I received a phone call, and when I answered, there was only a loud beep, as if it were a recording device. I waited for the caller to speak, but they remained silent.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media, telling me my TiVo box would stop working in a week. They wanted my bank details and sort code, but obviously, I didn't give them anything. Total scam.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky asking for my husband’s name, his date of birth, and saying they’d send a new pin. Then they tried to get bank info from us, which we didn’t give. The moment they pushed for that, I just ended the call and made sure to report it to the bank straight away.

Got a call about a new Sky card, then they started wanting my birthday. So, I just kept going with silly questions until he gave up and ended the call. Guess I had too much free time!

Like some others have said, I was starting to trust the guy but then he asked for my bank info, so I just ended the call straight away.

They called my mother, claiming to be representatives from Sky, and said that her card needed to be replaced. They requested her bank details while also offering her a discount because she is a pensioner. Thankfully, she refused to provide any information. This incident mirrors a similar modus operandi reported by another individual on this website previously.

A man with an Indian accent claimed to be from Sky. He mentioned that new Sky viewing cards were being sent out, and in light of our status as senior citizens, they could potentially lower our TV plan costs. However, to proceed with this process, he requested my age and bank information. The conversation was quite persuasive, but I made the decision to abruptly end the call as it became apparent that this was undoubtedly a scam.

Got a call from an Indian bloke warning me that my Sky viewing card was up for renewal in a week. He asked for my date of birth, which I gave, then he questioned if I was someone called David. I said no, and he then said he'd dialled the wrong number before hanging up. Definitely a scam, watch out.

Some bloke rang claiming he was with Sky, sounded pretty legit at first. Said my card was about to expire and they'd send a new box along (mind you, my box is barely two months old). I got a bit iffy and asked for a number to ring him back on, but all I heard was loads of office noise in the background. Then he just hung up on me. Definitely a scammer.

Earlier this morning, a call came through to our landline from the aforementioned number. The caller specifically asked for a Miss Burr. However, upon letting them know that they had dialled the incorrect number, they promptly apologized and ended the call. Notably, the person sounding Indian and there was a faint piping noise in the background, which gave the impression that they were making the call from a payphone or something similar.

Just got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming she was from Sky. She said they were updating viewing cards and needed to confirm some security info. She even mentioned it would save me about £20 a month! I told her I doubted it was really Sky, and she said she'd send me a letter that I could complete and return. Tried calling Sky afterwards but the lines were busy. Luckily, I didn't give out any bank details. Still feels a bit dodgy to me though.

Under absolutely no circumstances, refrain from providing them with your date of birth or banking information, as it is indeed a fraudulent scheme.

I encountered an Indian gentleman who attempted to obtain my bank information. I must assert my disapproval! It is only fair that one earns their income like the majority of us! I chose to deceive him by stating that I intended to acquire new Sky cards and demanded to go through security measures. He underestimated my readiness to counter his scheme!

Got a call from an Indian guy claiming my sky card was being replaced with a new one. He asked for my date of birth to verify who I was, and after some back and forth, I ended up giving it. Then he went on about how to activate the new card and asked for my sort code to confirm payments. That’s when I got suspicious and told him I thought it was a scam, but he kept denying it. Eventually, I just hung up on him. I later found his number saved on my phone and looked it up - turns out loads of others have had the same experience.

I have been receiving calls from this particular number twice a day for the past three days. However, whenever I answer, there is no response. Instead, they just play music in the background. As a frustrated reaction, I often find myself shouting "Fornicate off!" before ending the call. At first, I suspected that it might be scammers behind these persistent calls.

Today, I received a phone call from a number purporting to be Virgin Media. The person on the line informed me that I could avail a 20% discount, but requested that I confirm my bank details. They posed their questions in such a way that it would be easy for someone to be tricked. Sensing something was amiss, I decided to call Virgin Media directly. To my surprise, when I tried redialing the number, it was inactive.

My elderly mother received a phone call from individuals claiming to be from TalkTalk, stating that her TV services would be disconnected. However, they requested her sort code and account number, mentioning her status as a pensioner to persuade her. Fortunately, she declined their demands despite their persistent attempts. We have taken the initiative to report this incident to TalkTalk. It is important to raise awareness about such scams and remain vigilant.

Just like many others here, it was obviously a scam aiming to grab my bank info. When they asked for my date of birth, I told them I wasn’t going to share that. The bloke said thanks and mentioned I’d get an email soon. Honestly, any thick-accented guy from India or Pakistan who struggles with my name and then calls himself "Ron" is very lucky I didn’t give him a mouthful.

Called me up sayin my Sky bill was bein cut since I’m on a pension. I mentioned they usually send info through email or post. She claimed the letter got lost but still wanted my bank details. I wasn’t having any of it and told her to buzz off. She had a weird accent and you could hear loads of noise like it was some hectic call centre behind her.

Got a call from a guy who said his name was Jason, sounded Indian, claiming my Sky viewing card was about to expire in a week. He told me Sky would be sending a replacement, and to activate it, he gave me a PIN. He knew my name and address, which made me a bit wary, so when he asked for my date of birth, I gave him a made-up one. Then he went on about already having my credit or debit card info from Sky, and that all he needed now was my bank sort code and account number. I just ended the call there. Sounds like a total load of rubbish to me.

Got a call saying my Sky viewing card would expire in 30 days and that a new one was on its way. They obviously knew my name, address and postcode. When they asked for my birthdate, I mentioned Sky never asks for that. The person then claimed to be from the card department. I told them I’d be contacting Sky directly and reporting this number to the fraud team. They sounded pretty legit but something didn’t feel right.

I received a call from a lady claiming to be from Sky, who informed me that my card was soon expiring and I needed to renew it by providing her with my debit card details. I explained that I didn't have my card on hand. She insisted that I should go get it and she would patiently wait. However, I reiterated that I couldn't disclose the number and had no intention of fetching the card. Surprisingly, she then instructed me to ensure I carry my card with me tomorrow, as she planned to call again. To date, I have not received any further communication from her.
