This is definitely a scam run by some right dodgy people. They trick you into ringing them by pretending it’s urgent or important, just to make a quick buck. OFTEL doesn’t seem to do anything about it, which is proper frustrating.

Yeh, this number called me as well... I answered and talked for a bit before realising something wasn't right. My gut told me to hang up quick. Fingers crossed I didn't get stung for loads of money. Got a call from this number on my phone claiming there was an urgent issue with a reference number, telling me to ring straight back. I’m pretty sure calling it would’ve charged me loads more than normal. These sorts of scams really should be cracked down on more strictly.

I was on hold for just about a minute and a half, so fingers crossed it won’t cost a fortune, but I do feel a bit daft for getting caught out! I’ve reported it as fraud. I know reporting a crime over a few quid might sound like overkill, but imagine how much cash these scammers rake in if loads of people get done for even a small amount each time. I can’t believe I actually got caught out by this! I’ve reported the number to Vodafone by texting it to 7726. Proper annoyed with myself!

Just don’t bother returning the call, it’s dodgy and could end up costing you a fortune if you ring back. If you get a strange text, you could try texting the number asking why they’ve messaged you and tell them to stop. Also, sign up for the Telephone Preference Service - it’s free and companies are legally meant to respect that list. Any legit business will say who they are in their message. I just bin these sorts of calls and texts straight away. Like I always say, if it was really important, they’d have phoned you direct.

Got a text saying I need to get in touch straight away. It's definitely a scam. The message says calls are 10p per minute, but after hanging on for about 5 minutes, I got told no one's free and then a message saying they couldn't connect me. It told me to ring back later. Pretty sure that call charged way more than 10p a minute.
