4 yearsSo, I just checked my phone bill and noticed that this number, along with one very close to it, had been called. I reckon it’s because of my Spire card reader, which seems to update itself without me knowing. I’ve already dropped an email to Handepay, the company that supplied it, asking what’s going on. The bill shows a call to the 224 number lasting 47 minutes and 9 seconds, which set me back £16.91 - all for an update, apparently. I’m hoping they’ll sort a refund for this. I’ll post an update when I hear back. 08717111224Handepay4 yearsSo, basically at around 10.38pm on 13th June, when my card machine came online, I noticed an odd charge for £22.38 from 0871 711 1224. Seems like some sneaky billing scam trying to settle a payment credit or something. Quite suspicious if you ask me!5 yearsI wasn’t even near my phone, it wasn’t even switched on, but somehow I got billed for calls from this number and 08717111223. Feels like a total scam to me.5 yearsI reported my credit card to Paymentsense like twice because there was some dodgy activity, but they just keep taking money off me. It's a total rip-off. We haven’t even used the card machine while on furlough! Feels like they’re just scamming us.6 yearsOur establishment operates strictly from 9:00 to 17:30, yet we’ve been receiving calls to this number at an unearthly hour of 00:45 on the 15th of each month for the past three months. Quite peculiar, wouldn’t you agree?6 yearsWas charged £19.30 for making three calls to this number way early in the morning. Turns out it was my card machine from Payment Sense doing a software update. I’ll be ringing them first thing tomorrow to sort a refund out, this is ridiculous. They shouldn’t be charging a business for something like a routine update, feels like a sneaky extra fee. Never gave them my okay for this - feels a bit dodgy and could even be illegal.Payment Sense6 yearsSeems like my card reader tried calling this number a few times back in March. The worst part was the last call, which happened around 1am! Keep in mind their country was on lockdown then too. It ended up costing me £14.99 which is just ridiculous. I've already emailed First Data and Payment Sense, explaining this isn’t a proper number and it's causing my business extra costs. Hoping they’ll refund me soon because this is really not on.First Data and Payment Sense7 yearsI wanted to bring to your attention that our Nursery operates from 8 in the morning until 6 in the evening. However, we've noticed an erroneous charge of £14.88 for a phone call made on the evening of the 6th of June 2019 at 9:53 PM. As our Nursery was shut at that hour, this charge seems quite unfounded.Nursery8 yearsI've just noticed my bill has suddenly skyrocketed after a call lasting a mere 1 minute and 30 seconds to this number-one that I absolutely didn’t make! What are my options here?8 yearsThis number is tied to a card payment terminal. I use a Spire payment machine, and it’s the terminal calling this number automatically to update itself. Not sure why they never told me about it. I even got in touch with my phone provider to block outgoing calls from it. When I spoke to Spire about it, they offered a refund but I’m still not sure I feel comfortable. I’ll wait and see what the bill looks like next month.Spire9 yearsNo idea who this number belongs to, I've tried looking it up but come up blank every time.9 yearsHonestly, nobody seems to understand what this number actually does. Even when I called my phone provider, their customer service couldn't explain why calling this number costs money. They told me I supposedly spent an hour chatting with someone after dialling it? That’s just mad.9 yearsI've just looked over my latest bill and noticed it's much higher than usual, thanks to numerous calls from this number - some of which lasted over an hour! Can anyone shed light on who's accountable for these charges?9 yearsThis number is probably one that your chip and pin or card machine rings up to do updates. That’s why you often see calls coming in at weird hours, like really early in the morning.10 yearsThis number has been troubling us by ringing our fax line since December 27, 2009, racking up around five calls a day. There were four more calls the day after, and then again on the 29th, with yet another call on the 30th-right at 00:18 each time, no less. It’s quite frustrating that we’re being billed for these pesky calls! Our company is on an annual plan, valid from December 24 to January 4, 2010, which means everything, including our fax machine, should be powered down. We’ve reached out to Opal (TalkTalk) regarding these unwanted calls, yet the charges remain. Best regards, Alan Turner Managing Director N8C6OpalTalkTalkAlan Turner10 yearsEarlier this morning, we got a ring from this specific number, so we've chosen to share our experience here.10 yearsI never even dialled this number 1, yet ended up paying £16.89 for two calls! This is ridiculous.10 yearsHonestly, I ended up getting billed £16.89 for two calls I never even made! I didn’t ring this number at all!10 yearsI noticed an £11 charge on my statement for a phone call at 2am in the morning when I was fast asleep. Have no clue who made it.10 yearsI've been hit with charges from these calls for more than a year. I originally thought it was some sort of support line for my system, but it seems these calls have been coming through even during holidays when no one is around! Can anyone shed light on what or who this might be? And more importantly, what steps can I take to sort this out? I could really use some assistance here!11 yearsfor about five days running, this number kept showing up on our phone bill, ringing us like six times every single day and costing us 32p per call. we never answered or even knew about these calls, and honestly, feels like some kinda scam to me!11 yearsIt seems to be from Hypercom. Just wondering, do you have a chip and PIN device that undergoes overnight updates?Hypercom11 yearsI’ve been billed twice for an amount that’s significantly higher than normal, and it appears that this number keeps popping up. It’s really draining my finances!11 yearsI've settled the payment for these rings more than a year back, thinking this was a support line for my system. But it appears there's been activity even on holidays when the person isn't here! Can anyone clarify who or what this is? I'm in need of some assistance!11 yearsI've just got my latest bill, and it's twice as high as normal! This number has been ringing me constantly, with some calls lasting over ten minutes - really frustrating! I believed this was just about updating my chip and pin terminal, so why on earth am I being charged so much, especially when I already pay a rental fee? Quite displeased, to say the least!11 yearsJust a heads up, this number is used by your card reader to perform software updates and verify its security features, especially since it deals with financial transactions. It will continuously ring until the necessary updates are completed.11 yearsI’ve never had a chat with this number, yet it always seems to appear on my bill without fail!12 yearsWe're receiving calls from this number on our phone provider's account rather frequently. I've reached out to BT, but they haven't been much help in providing any specific information. The strange thing is, these calls seem to be originating from secured retail locations around 4 in the morning and are now showing up on residential lines nearly 30 miles away on completely different area codes. The calls are quite brief, lasting anywhere from 9 to 140 seconds, and they seem to be linked to some kind of data transmission or electronic communication, though it’s hard to say for sure. While the financial impact isn't severe, it's incredibly exasperating given that we've ruled out any possibilities linked to alarm systems, credit banking, or similar services, as we don't utilise those on our domestic lines. If anyone has any insights or advice to offer about this situation, please do leave a comment here. Much appreciated in advance!BT12 yearsI’ve noticed this number showing up on my invoice during hours when my shop is shut and there’s nobody around. Yet, I’m still expected to cover the cost?12 yearsI noticed this number appeared on a customer's invoice. Could anyone assist in identifying the contact, please?12 yearsIf you've got a business phone but wish to avoid receiving calls during the night, simply disconnect your chip and PIN card reader after hours. Just be mindful that doing this will also mean you won't be able to process any card transactions while it's unplugged...13 yearsI found this number listed on a customer's invoice. Would anyone be able to assist in figuring out which company it belongs to? Cheers!13 yearsI've been receiving numerous calls on this number and I haven't a clue who's behind them. Is there any way to prevent these calls from coming through?13 yearsI've noticed on my bill that there are five calls, each lasting about a minute, that came through at the rather unsociable hour of 1:48 AM. The phone provider insists that I need to pay for these calls since they were made from my business line. However, we were not operational at that time!13 yearsIt seems I've mistakenly dialled this number on three different occasions: once at 23:38 for about four minutes, later at 23:43 for three minutes, and again on 19th November 2013 at 23:26 for another three minutes. However, this is an office line, and I have no recollection of making those calls. Clearly, there's a mix-up with my TalkTalk account details.TalkTalkSubmit Your Own Report (0871 711 1224)
