Received a call this evening around half six (18:33) from 0871 6641 440, touting Sky warranties. It was rather unsettling, as the caller seemed to know our surname, and I’m supposed to be ex-directory. Quite concerning, really, since we don’t usually share our landline number. We pressed them for how they managed to get hold of our details, but they just danced around the question without providing a clear response. They claimed they'd remove our info from their system, but honestly, I’m not holding my breath on that. Typical, isn’t it?

As soon as we answered, we were met with nothing but a dial tone. Considering we're registered with the Telephone Preference Service, I reckon this lot must be calling from overseas. It's baffling how rife scams have become these days. Perhaps it's because the BBC stopped broadcasting programmes like 'The Real Hustle', which used to highlight these schemes and keep them from being so glorified!

I've just received a call from 0871 6641440, saying that after the big switch to digital, our current box won’t function anymore. Apparently, it picks up analogue signals and turns them into digital. They're telling me we'll need to purchase a digital aerial to keep watching. Is this just another scam in the making?

I just received a call from these individuals attempting to sell me insurance for my Sky box, which we no longer possess. Instead, we only have Sky+ at the moment. The lady on the line was incredibly insistent, going on about how it was a bargain at just five quid a week - the usual sales patter. We had to reiterate numerous times that we weren’t keen on the offer, but I think she eventually got the hint. After reading through some of the other comments on this site, I’m relieved that I didn’t fall for their tricks. Much like those annoying 0870 or 0871 numbers that ring us up, we typically check this site right after getting such calls.

The other day, I received a phone call attempting to persuade us into extending our Sky box warranty. After hearing the extortionate price, we declined and figured that would be the last we’d hear of it. Yet, lo and behold, I got another call today from this very number. When I inquired, it turned out to be the same lot again! I can't help but wonder how many times I’ll need to firmly say 'no' before they finally leave us in peace.

I must say, these individuals are quite the con artists! They have absolutely no affiliation with Sky TV whatsoever. Sky has its own dedicated team that handles correspondence, including letters regarding renewals. They certainly don’t reach out to customers over the phone like this. Hello everyone, it seems we're all missing the point here. Instead of hanging up, just place the phone down gently without ending the call. If everyone does this, it could end up costing them an absolute fortune, potentially driving them to financial ruin! Eventually, these callers might just vanish.

I've received a call from them for the second time now. Aside from the initial insurance policy that expired a decade ago, I've never had the inclination to pursue it. Especially since you can easily pick up a Sky box on eBay for around twenty quid!

Received a phantom call from 0871 56641 440. No one spoke, just silence before they hung up. After reading other comments, it seems like this might be a scam related to Sky subscriptions. I recently received a phone call claiming to be regarding our Sky Television subscription. We informed them that we no longer had an account, which is absolutely correct, as we opted not to continue our subscription after the initial 12-week introductory offer. They apologised and assured us they would update their records accordingly. However, we now suspect that this wasn’t actually Sky at all. It appears to be a company trying to sell us a warranty for our satellite dish and receiver, which apparently was highlighted on the Watchdog programme dated 10th March 2008. The number they used was 08716641481. Additionally, as we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), this company seems to be operating outside the law.

I seem to be getting inundated with calls trying to convince me to purchase an extended warranty for "my" Sky box. The issue is, I don’t even subscribe to Sky TV! Frankly, I can’t stand the sight of those unsightly aerials cluttering up the place. It feels like a rampant disregard for planning regulations, much like the wayside speeders on the roads. In just the last week alone, I’ve received six calls from a company called Sat Nav Maintenance, and each time I politely request they remove my number from their records. Clearly, they choose to ignore my wishes!
