Earlier today, my mum received a call from someone named Nicholas Carter, who rambled on about Salvador Dali and mentioned something about me supposedly arranging an art investment (I definitely did not!). To add to the oddity, she woke up to a DHL package from TAM GROUP based in Madrid, Spain. Strangely, there was no note or personal message - just a Treasury Asset Purchase Agreement and some terms and conditions regarding art purchases. This afternoon, they followed up with another call, insisting that since she accepted the delivery, she now had to fill out a form they'd started, which bizarrely had her name, address, phone number, and part of her National Insurance number already on it, and they wanted it sent back to them! She passed me the number they called from, and I did a bit of research. lo and behold, I found someone with a nearly identical situation!

FRIDAY, 28th OCTOBER 2016 - A string of phone calls over the course of the last four days. This evening at 9 PM, I dialled a number only to be greeted by a voice mail message in Spanish: AMP 0870 8200074. It appears someone is trying to lighten my wallet. It's all tied to something called the Asset Management Corporate Protection Group. The same caller keeps ringing me, claiming to be Gavin and insisting that I'm a prime investor with Barclays. He has some news about banks investing in this new venture dubbed Salvador Dali. The proposed returns are quite enticing, starting at 8% and potentially climbing to between 15-30% over a two-year span. After a rather lengthy and persuasive conversation, he seemed keen to know if I was intrigued. He even went so far as to ask for personal identification. In a moment of weakness, I provided my National Insurance number. He mentioned he'd connect me with a compliance manager to confirm my address for sending some documents. A few moments later, I got another call. I pressed the compliance manager on the nature of their compliance, and he became rather huffy, reminiscent of a schoolboy caught out. It seemed he let down Gavin, who had been quite convincing. After that, they didn’t bother to give me another call. Gavin claimed he’s 37 years old and resides in Buckenden, North Bucks. He also has ties to Saunderton, and told me about his parents’ divorce and a grandfather living nearby, around Coleshill in Bucks, not far from Amersham. He recalled cycling up the hill from Amersham and had a vivid image of the tower perched atop it. Interestingly, he seems to have some links to Stowe - possibly an alumnus of that private institution. He even recounted an amusing incident of being startled by a large herd of sheep while riding near a field close to Saunderton.
