Since around November 2015, I've had this number, 0862284010, ringing me pretty much every single day. Sometimes I get up to three or four calls in one day. To get the deal, they wanted me to give my driver’s licence, birth certificate, or passport number. My wife battles with depression, and these constant calls are really doing her head in because she’s so delicate right now. I can hear them breathing on the line, but they never actually say anything. They’ve also tried to throw me off by calling from different numbers like 02 80311372 and then 02 80386421. To stop my wife from having to answer, I’ve put on an answerphone and sort through the messages later. Our mates and family just leave a voicemail or email instead. Contacting TELSTRA is pointless - the people on the other end often sound like they’re from overseas, maybe India, and with my hearing aid, it’s near impossible to understand them properly.

My mobile has been blowing up with calls like this lately. So eventually, I picked up just to mess with the caller a bit. I told him right off the bat that he didn’t sound like someone from Telstra. Before hanging up, I said I’d get in touch with Telstra directly to verify.
He went as far as giving me an employee ID, something like D788314, and said his name was Jamie.

I got in touch with Telstra afterwards and they warned me not to share any personal info with that number.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Telstra while I was working. They said it’d only take about 5 minutes, but half an hour later, they were still trying to sell me an iPad on some plan.
