I missed the call so I decided to ring the number back. They wanted me to provide a case number, which I obviously didn’t have. Then they asked for my NI number and my address, but I refused to share any of that info. They backed off pretty quickly after that. They’ve called me before too, saying there was a warrant for my arrest over unpaid taxes. That time they pushed harder, but honestly, I stood my ground just as firmly!

Got a call from this number, left a voicemail that sounded totally dodgy. The message said it was from Officer Dennis Grey at HM Revenue & Customs and kept stressing it was urgent. If you’ve ever phoned the actual HMRC, you’ll know it takes ages to get through, like 40 or 50 minutes at least. I rang them about two hours ago for something else, so they’d have definitely told me if I owed any money. I’m really glad I looked up this number first because it’s not the real HMRC at all.
