I got a voicemail from this number that was really intimidating, saying I couldn’t just ignore their call and if they don’t get in touch with me or my lawyer, I should get ready for court. Honestly, it felt really unfair given everything happening, especially being stuck at home in isolation for 12 weeks. It left me quite shaken. I’m based in Northampton.

I received a missed call from 0845 862 2383, and they left a message claiming to be from HMRC. It urged me not to overlook their call. However, the language in the voicemail struck me as rather dodgy and unprofessional. I'm relieved I did a bit of digging on this site; it’s clearly a scam. I've gone ahead and blocked the number. I phoned back using a different line and got a chap named "Peter" on the other end, claiming to be from HMRC. He had the audacity to assert that I was Detective Inspector xxx from the West Midlands Police. Funny how quick they were to end the call, isn’t it? Hilarious! In my dealings with HMRC, they've typically initiated contact via letter to begin with, and if there's a need for further discussion, they usually call from a withheld number. It’s quite worrying how often vulnerable individuals get taken in by these deceitful scammers.

I got a call earlier, and when I picked up, it was a pre-recorded message. It warned me that if I didn't return the call or get my solicitor to do so, I’d be facing a hefty fine. They mentioned someone called Debbie, but I didn’t catch her surname or the contact number.

I just got a automated call from HMRC telling me to call them straight away or there would be serious trouble 😠 Definitely sounds like a scam!

It's unbelievable that this rubbish is still happening, especially with everything going on in the world right now. These absolute morons should be locked up or something. Had three calls from them in just two minutes!

Claiming to be from HMRC, this one definitely seemed to have a rather intimidating tone. I strongly advise you to contact HMRC directly for confirmation. Remember, they will never request your personal banking information. Moreover, they used an 020 phone number, which is quite suspicious!

I received a call from this number, and they left a voicemail with a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC. The message instructed me to get in touch with someone named Dennis Graham, warning me I might 'face legal repercussions' if I didn’t comply. It’s quite a shameful scam, albeit rather cleverly done. Do yourself a favour and don’t return their call; just block the number altogether!

It's hard to fathom that this number is still in operation; it really ought to be shut down for good.

Got a really scary voicemail telling me or my lawyer to ring them ASAP or else there'll be big problems. 100% a scam, so dont ever bother calling the number they give you.

Was at work when the phone rang so I couldn't answer, but as soon as I got back home I looked up the number. Glad I did, cause I wouldn't want to call back and get caught up in a scam. Blocked the number straight away. Scammers are the worst.

Seriously, do NOT bother returning the call! Everyone should know about this.

I got a call from 08458622383 but didn’t pick up. I checked this site afterwards and it says it’s a scam. Cheers for the heads up!

Got a voicemail from some bloke. I rang him back and he spoke all posh, said he was from HMRC with a proper looking name and number. Seemed convincing but I wasn’t about to share my info. He asked for my National Insurance number and birthday to check my so-called “case number”. I just ended the call.

BEWARE OF SCAM! I saw a missed call from 08458622383 today, and left a voicemail that sounded just like the one in that video below. When I returned the call, someone answered instantly saying they were from HMRC. They asked for my full name, but I just hung up immediately. Watch out and don’t get caught by these fraudsters!

Got a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, but the recording just stopped halfway through. Then I got the same call again within the hour, so I’ve blocked the number. Definitely don’t try calling them back.

Got a call about a tax refund from HMRC, but it was just some scammers trying to empty my bank account. Don’t pick up or share any details with them, it’s all a trick!

Got a voicemail from HMRC threatening to get my solicitor involved if I don’t ring them back. No chance I’ll be calling them. Watch out, folks.

Got a call from an automated woman saying she was from HMRC. She told me to have my solicitor ring them back, otherwise I'd face prosecution. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

This threatening phone call seriously needs to be dealt with. People who aren’t great with technology could easily fall for it. It’s completely unacceptable.
