I got a call from this number just before 10pm and then once more close to 11pm on a Sunday evening. Each time before I could pick up, they hung up. Being on the older side, it’s quite unsettling to receive calls so late, especially when you’re already trying to sleep. When I dialled the number back, it was an automated message about travel insurance, so I quickly ended the call.

oh, that’s just the number for bt’s text message forwarding. someone’s probably sent a text to your home phone instead of your mobile, happens all the time especially if you’ve got loads of numbers saved for someone. heads up though, if you don’t pick up, it’ll keep ringing you now and then until you get the message.

you forgot to include an ‘O’ like in 02°. the right number is 08456021111, which goes back to when 02 was the mobile division of BT. nowadays, Openreach uses this number to play audio translations of texts sent to your landline, and loads of mobile networks rely on it. if you're curious, just text your landline from your mobile then answer the call and pay close attention to the computer voice message.
