10/02/2015 I received a rather fishy call from a bloke who knew my name and said he was with Tesco Bank. He wanted me to verify some security info. When I pressed him on why he was calling, he claimed he couldn’t divulge anything without going through the checks first. Quite odd, if you ask me. He then offered a callback number - 0845 6710677 - insisting it was imperative I reach out and assuring me it wasn’t a sales pitch. I’m not buying it and it appears I’m not the only one! It appears that there is a recent trend of targeting elderly individuals with fraudulent calls. My mother has been receiving numerous calls throughout the day from a number claiming to be Tesco Bank: 08456710677. These calls are clearly from hoax callers. We have reported the matter to BT, but unfortunately, their solution was to try and sell my mother a phone for £34.99 so she could block these calls. It's disappointing to see such a response from BT.

I recently received a letter from TescoBank Collection. However, instead of addressing me by my name, the letter had the words "Tesco Bank". The letter instructed me to call a phone number, 08456710677.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that this number does not correspond to their official customer helpline. I contacted Tesco directly using their correct helpline and they confirmed that they were not aware of any such letter. Something seems questionable here. If you ever come across a similar letter, it is advised not to respond.
