I completed a CHAPS transaction and received a call on my personal mobile. I requested their number for a callback, and they provided me with 0845 601 6047. I proceeded to contact the Barclays business team to confirm the legitimacy of this number, and they assured me it was indeed a valid number associated with their global processing team. After a rather lengthy wait of 25 minutes, I was eventually connected. During that call, they informed me that they had already reached out to the bank and confirmed the CHAPS payment with the staff member who originally handled our request.

Steer clear of divulging any of your personal information - not even your name should you engage with them. Word has it that the number traces back to Narayankhed in Sangareddy, India. Seems like those overseas call centres are really finding their feet in this game, aren't they?

Somebody pretending to be from Barclays calling to get your bank details under the guise of processing a payment - yeah right, not falling for that :)
It's a classic vishing trick, never ever share any personal info or even say your name.

Turns out the call comes from Narayankhed in Sangareddy, India.
