Got hit with a £39 bill for a call that supposedly lasted more than an hour and 20 minutes. Problem is, I never made the call and couldn’t have done since I was at work with no signal to dial out. They gave me a partial refund, but honestly, I’m still well annoyed about the whole thing.

I saw a piece in Wednesday’s paper (27/4/16) about conmen making calls from 0845 429 and 0830 numbers. I looked at my mobile and saw 2 calls from 0845 429 0140, then a 3rd one when I called Virgin to alert them. These scammers call you and somehow your phone ends up ringing back on expensive 0845 or 0830 lines. Some folks had their phones keep calling for 12 hours straight, racking up bills of £300. Ofcom knows about this scam now and they’re working on stopping it.
