Received a rather frosty call from something called 'Safety Alarm'. They mentioned they were doing a survey in my area. However, the moment I pressed for details about what they were actually selling, they became remarkably elusive. Quite the dodgy little outfit, if you ask me!

This number rang me a couple times today. First, an automated voice answered just to say "goodbye." The second call was a lady claiming she worked for Storm Security. She told me they’re fitting automatic alert systems for emergency services and doctors around here. I told her my first move would always be to call 999 myself, but she insisted I’d probably forget. She got pretty pushy after that, so I ended up just hanging up.

I get a call from this same number almost every day, but my call blocker ends the ring after just one buzz. Even so, I can still check who called. I paid around £40 for the blocker, and honestly, it’s been one of my best buys. It plays a recorded message that tells telemarketers to remove me from their lists and lets genuine callers press 5 to connect. It’s really cut down on annoying sales calls because any telemarketer knows what to expect. Plus, autodiallers can’t get past it since they can’t press the button. Makes me think I might not even need a landline anymore, since most calls don’t get through. I won’t drop a brand name here, but you can always do a quick internet search for something similar.

I got a call from someone with a thick regional UK accent who kept sounding unsure. He mentioned he’d be around my neighbourhood next week and wanted to do some kind of ‘old’ safety check. There was loads of background noise which made it hard to hear properly - pretty dodgy and not very professional, if it was a scam!

My mum got a call from this number earlier and the person just said 'thank you' before hanging up. They tried ringing me too but I was at work and missed it. On 22nd Jan 2013, this number buzzed my phone twice, once at 12:10 and then at 12:15. I've lost count of how many times it's called me. The voices always sound foreign and weirdly, they know and use my name. Sometimes, if I miss the call and my answerphone picks up, I spot the number on the screen and just ignore it without picking up - I've memorised the number now! If I do pick up without realising it's them, my go-to response is, "We do not accept unsolicited calls," then I hang up straight away. Still, this hasn’t stopped them from calling a few days down the line.

This morning, when I picked up my phone, a young bloke started trying to sell me some kind of home security system. After going back and forth for about five minutes, I told him flat out I wasn’t interested. That’s when he called me a prat and said I was a waste of space before hanging up on me. I then tried to call 1471 to check the number and also rang 101 to report the incident, but the line just didn’t get answered. Hopefully, this can be passed on to the right people because we don’t need this sort of hassle. For what it’s worth, my landline is 01179522752 and my mobile is 07949588748. It’d be good to get in touch with the CEO about this.
