Received three calls from this number recently, and then two more today. Our initial responses to the first couple were quite careful, but they turned out to be legitimate attempts. Thankfully, we verified that there’s absolutely nothing amiss with our account details. It seems their trial run isn’t going according to plan, to say the least!

I can confirm that this call was indeed from Barclaycard. They claim they won’t request your card details, only your date of birth, as they seem to understand that folks are on high alert! Unfortunately, our card has been hacked! :(

Received a call earlier today, 23rd November 2009, from a withheld number claiming to be from Barclaycard. We were a bit puzzled since we don't actually hold an account with them! After the initial call, we decided to ring back about ten minutes later, but again it was the same 0845 4,019,125 number insisting they were Barclaycard. Quite baffling, really, as we don’t even have a Barclaycard to begin with!

Sounds to me like a classic ploy for selling insurance, rather than anything to do with Barclaycard directly. Just half an hour later, we got a barrage of calls from debt recovery scripts too - probably the same lot at it! Having an ex-directory number doesn't seem to do much good anymore, since every Tom, Dick and Harry - from shops to tyre fitters and online sellers - insists on your phone number for their files. Before you know it, these blokes start offloading your details to some unsavoury call centres. What a right nuisance!

I received multiple calls from this number earlier today, claiming to be the Scam Protection Department of Barclaycard. Naturally, we wanted to verify if it was genuine, so we reached out to BT for advice. They indicated that the number might be legitimate and recommended we review our bill overnight, suggesting we use the "call our bill" service at 0800 054 608. However, when I pressed any key to proceed with the call, I couldn't terminate the line afterwards. I ended up having to unplug the telephone line from the socket and disconnect the phone from the mains just to clear the connection. Quite the hassle, really!

I've had five calls from this number, all purporting to be about Barclaycard scam protection. When I used to have Barclaycard, these individuals claimed they were offering 'advice'. To be honest, I think it's a load of nonsense and very likely a scam!

Earlier today, I received at least one, and probably four, missed calls alerting me about potential fraud, claiming to be from Barclaycard. They left messages on my voicemail (1571) urging me to return the call. Naturally, I rang Barclaycard directly from the contact number listed on my statement. To my surprise, I was informed that they hadn’t made any calls to me and there were no issues attached to my account. Quite the dodgy situation, if you ask me!

It's interesting that this number is linked to Barclays, but we don't actually hold a Barclaycard, and our title isn't even close to MS C Beard. Quite puzzling!

I’ve recently received one of these calls myself, and I promptly hung up, as anyone with a modicum of concern for their security would do. I called Barclaycard back on their official 0800 number, and it turned out these individuals were looking to verify a transaction from a search engine’s checkout. We were very upfront with the security advisor, expressing our discomfort with this process. It's only a matter of time before someone with less than noble intentions uses the same approach. Additionally, our account has now been noted as lacking the recorded conversations.

We've recently acquired one of these rings and decided to reach out to the customer service at Barclaycard. Apparently, this was indeed a legitimate call, and it seems these folks operate quite randomly! If you ever need to verify, give them a bell at 0800 400100.

As I mentioned earlier, even after having a chat with Barclaycard's fraud protection team, the phone calls didn’t let up - we received two in just a couple of hours! So, we decided to give the 0845 number a bell and navigate through their IVR system, which turned out to be quite a pleasant experience, to our surprise. We ended up authorising several transactions. However, we sincerely hope this isn’t going to be a regular occurrence. We really don’t fancy dealing with this sort of hassle repeatedly!
