In our situation, after the chap reviewed our account, it turned out that our number had been mistakenly entered - either by another user of Nationwide or by the company itself. At 8 o'clock on the morning of 8th May 2008, we received a call from this number. As soon as the automated message prompted us to press a key to proceed, we hung up straight away. Quite suspicious, don't you think?

I've received no fewer than five calls from this number earlier today. When I answered, there was a recorded message claiming to be from Nationwide, urging me to press any digit on my phone. It felt quite dodgy, so we decided to hang up. Subsequently, I rang Nationwide using a number I know is reliable, and they've confirmed that this lot is not affiliated with them in any way.
