The phone rang a grand total of four times today, and on the final attempt, I picked up only to be told that they had already spoken to me! Well, that’s a right load of nonsense because this is the very first occasion I had ever answered this number. All the lady had to say was, “Apologies, but we don’t need to talk to you. Cheerio!” Quite baffling, I must say!

Received a call at home from this number earlier today (12/9/09) claiming to represent the Nationwide Building Society. They expressed a desire to discuss our account with them. They even provided the last four digits of our credit card (yes, it was a credit card account) and insisted on verifying our identity with further information. Since we didn’t recognise who they were, we asked for a contact number and were given this one to call back. They emphasised that the matter was significant as it was related to our account.

We've got a straightforward rule round here: don’t bother picking up any calls that begin with 084 or 087 unless you’ve specifically made arrangements for someone to phone you and you’re actually awaiting their call. If not, it’s best to just let them ring off!

Now, a little something about their service: it’s rather stiff and lacks flexibility, fairly bureaucratic, and to be honest, quite frustrating. I've had enough of this.
