I can confirm this number belongs to the child maintenance office, so it’s definitely not some sort of scam.

On the 9th of March, I got a ring from 0845 266 8793 while I was out. I’ve just got a new number, only shared it with three people. When I called back, I realised the last digit should be a 2, not 3. After searching online with the corrected number, it came up as Child Benefit related. I’m 64 and never even married, so it’s clearly dodgy. This has all the signs of a scam. Honestly, the government should crack down on these calls and make unsolicited calls illegal!
