I think I got caught in this scam too. About three years ago, I got a call, and since I was bombarded with annoying calls, their offer seemed okay. I ended up paying £50 for some device. Unfortunately, it messed up calls from my family and mates, so I just unplugged it and figured I was out of luck - there was no way I’d see my money again. Then, just a couple weeks ago, they rang me demanding another £80. I told them no way, but the bloke claimed we had a verbal deal and said he’d report me to his higher-ups. Yesterday, a woman named Vicky called, asking for £98, and when I refused, she said I was rude and told me to let her talk. She threatened to have her bosses ring me too. Today, she phoned again trying to get the payment, but I’d already done my research and knew they were scammers. I told her that and she just hung up on me. It’s worrying how easy it is to get tricked, especially for older folks - they really make you feel like you owe them money.

Gave us a bell on our mobile, but didn’t bother to leave a message.

Received a call from this number claiming to be from a call blocking service. I informed them that we already had a call blocker in place, and as soon as I mentioned it, they hung up straight away! Quite suspicious behaviour, if you ask me.

Received a call from this number earlier on in the day, where the person on the line tried to sell me a service to put an end to annoying calls for a monthly charge. I hung up promptly as soon as I declined their offer.

I keep getting calls from numbers I don’t recognise, and honestly, I doubt they're anything worth answering. It's probably just more of those annoying sales calls or some kind of spam. Not really keen on picking up anymore, so I just ignore them straight away. Feels like a waste of time to entertain those calls when they clearly have nothing useful to say.

They kept ringing me first from some unknown number for a few days, then called me from 08451297936 trying to push a call blocker to me. Honestly, you can find decent ones on Amazon cheaper and better. Just ignore them and get a proper blocker yourself.

My elderly mum got a ring from this number the other day. Normally I'd listen if it seemed legit, especially since she has dementia and these annoying calls upset her a lot. I spoke to this "Aaron" and then his supervisor "Charles", both of whom had accents that didn’t really fit their names. Told them I didn’t have my bank card handy and asked them to send the info through the post so I could give them a ring back to sort out payment for some kind of magic black box. But no, Charles just dropped the call on me…. :( Sorry mum, looks like you’ll need to keep hanging up when you don’t know who’s on the line!

Got a ring from some bloke called "Dwayne," which felt pretty cliche, offering a call blocker for nuisance calls. Couldn't help but find the irony in that. Just hung up straight away!

I got a call from a guy who sounded Indian, and there was loads of noise in the background, sounded really unprofessional. He said they’d make all the annoying calls stop within 28 days and gave me a number to call if the calls didn’t stop. He didn’t mention any charges at first, but then tried to push a call blocking gadget on me with a monthly fee that supposedly wouldn’t go up. I reckon he probably wanted my bank details after that, but when I asked why he hadn’t told me about the cost upfront, he got quite rude and turned it back on me, saying I should have asked. I told him to get a proper job instead of trying to scam folks. Hope no one falls for this nonsense.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent trying to talk about lots of sales calls and annoying phone calls. When he paused after asking if it was true, I just replied, "Absolutely it is, especially this call right here. Now, shove off," and I quickly ended the call!

I got a call from this number around 18:50 and when I answered there was no one there. Strange.

This person claimed to be calling on behalf of Virgin Media and told me they could help block annoying calls!

Whenever this number rings me, it’s always dead quiet when I pick up, no one ever speaks.

Got a annoying call from someone claiming they could stop junk calls and were switching everyone in my postcode from TPS to some 'Do Not Call' list. I told her her call was actually the nuisance in this case. Asked her how she could be making a nuisance call while talking about nuisance calls. Didn’t get to the part about paying anything before she just hung up.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said his name was James. He offered to send me a call blocker to stop annoying calls. He actually knew my name and the name of my house, but something about it just didn’t seem right - felt like a scam to me.

They tried to send me some kind of blocker thingy to keep those annoying calls away! What a weird one!

got a annoying call from someone named "Susan" claiming she could help block unwanted calls. i told her her call was exactly that, unwanted, and just ended the call!

Someone rang saying she was Susan from the Do Not Call list. I just said, "Oh, so you’re the one ringing about nuisance calls..." And then she just hung up on me straight away.

Got a call from someone named Daniel around 1:30 on the 14th of April. Asked me for my credit card info.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from a company called 'Do Not Call' out of Bournemouth. They said if I signed up, they'd sort me out with a call-blocker sent through the post, but it would cost me £1.99 every month for three years. Then they asked for my card info, which made me suspicious straight away.

So I got a call from someone named Kevin who said he had a reference number and told me all the postcodes around here had signed up to a scheme costing a bit over a pound a month to block annoying calls. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now, but honestly, it seems like it was all a waste.

Enough is enough with these nuisance calls! Slapping fines on the companies behind them clearly isn’t stopping anything. Maybe it’s time to consider locking up the people running these numbers. If that’s against the law, then the police need to step up and do something about it now. Seriously, police, get on it - these scammers are blatantly ignoring the rules. Do your job and put a stop to these offenders once and for all!

The scammers just keep going and going. Whoever finally puts a stop to this mess will definitely get my vote.

Just get caller ID so you can choose whether to pick up or not if the number’s unfamiliar.

Isn’t it meant to be against the law to get these sorts of calls now? From what I heard, after yesterday there’s a big fine, like half a million pounds. This number rang me on Tuesday 7th April - maybe it’s about time someone handed out that fine!

Happens to me too, like three or four times every week! I figured they would have stopped by now, thought this would have been sorted out long ago?

They ring me about three or four times every week, mostly in the early mornings or around tea time. It's really annoying, especially since I'm disabled.

Just had a big operation and these muppets keep ringing about blocking calls... I keep my phone away from me when I'm in bed, so I have to rush to answer in case it’s anyone trying to check if I’m alright. Really annoying!

This so-called scam about stopping calls just doesn’t sound very believable to me.

I just got a ring from this number. Some bloke called 'Jacob' was running on about some government supported plan costing 31.90 a month for three years. He barely let me get a word in and kept pushing, asking, "Don’t you trust me? We’re backed by the government." I ended the call after saying I’d check his number online. Honestly, why can't the government just block these numbers straight away?

Had a call earlier and told them to shove off, said if it was from the government it’d be free. Also warned them that come April, anyone caught doing this will get fined big time. The phone was slammed down faster than a fox chasing a hen!

Today my dad got duped and we had to cancel every credit card just to be safe. Bloody scoundrels.

Got a call from this bloke with a thick accent earlier, caught on pretty quick it was a scam. Played like I couldn’t hear a thing and the guy lost it, yelling “are you deaf or what?” proper rude. Seriously fed up with these dodgy callers, feels like I’m getting two calls like this daily now.

Today I got a call from a typical call centre, sounded like it was from India, and the bloke said his name was Wilson. He went through his usual script and then tried to put me through to another person. The line was awful and he spoke so unclearly I started worrying if I was getting charged for the call. I ended up hanging up. If it was legit, surely they would’ve called me back if the call dropped? It’s pretty creepy they have your name, number, and even your address and postcode. My husband has been trying to block nuisance calls on our line lately too, so this all seems connected somehow, like some of the others have mentioned here.

I received a rather chatty call from someone named "Michelle" who seemed rather convincing. She claimed to be representing a government-backed service for "call-barring TPS". I had recently signed up with TPS, so I was a bit gullible and ended up engaging with her, despite my usual scepticism about phone calls. It didn’t take long for things to raise red flags! She insisted I provide my card details for a supposed £1.90 monthly fee over three years, which she said was necessary to cover the costs of a device they would supposedly send me to block nuisance calls-this would arrive in just three days via registered post. I probed her with numerous questions, and she rattled off answers, including a registered address in Bournemouth and a company registration number. Beware, though - "Michelle" barely lets you speak and bombards you with information! I flat-out refused to share any card details and was encouraged to call their customer service line to confirm the legitimacy of the call-0845 1297936. The number sounded familiar, so I quickly googled it and discovered it was indeed linked to a scam! Having reported numerous nuisance calls to the Telephone Preference Service recently, I was unfortunately misled at first. Stay vigilant, folks!

Been holding out for a job and I went ahead and called them back thinking maybe it was good news, like an offer or something. Only later did I realise it probably wasn’t. Fingers crossed it hasn’t done me any harm. Bit daft of me really, Loz.

Has anyone got any idea what steps to take if you've paid Real Comm Box on 08451297936? My Auntie’s bank account got charged £84.99, even though she was only told there’d be a monthly fee of £1.90 for 3 years. The box wasn’t even opened and was returned straight away when it arrived. We’re now stuck trying to figure out how to get that money back. Would really appreciate any advice, cheers!

I got a call from a company calling themselves the "Do Not Call Register" saying I was getting loads of unwanted marketing calls from the UK and India. Funny thing is, the lady who answered, calling herself "Sharon", had an Indian accent and sounded like she was working from a call centre in India. They tried to sell me a device to block the calls for £1.90 a month plus an admin fee, telling me to call 08451297936. She even said she’d transfer me there herself, so I have no idea how much that would’ve cost. I couldn’t help but play along for a while, especially when she got annoyed as I kept mixing up the number she was giving me! Honestly, seemed like a well thought out scam. Be careful though, since they already have your phone number, address, and postcode, people who aren’t as wary might easily fall for it. Too dodgy for my liking!

My dad, who’s 79, got a call from these lot and when I saw the details, I knew straight away it was a scam. They tricked him into thinking he’d only have to pay £4.99, and kept dropping BT’s name to make it sound legit. He ended up ringing his bank and they found out he’d been charged £84.99! The number the woman Sarah gave him, 03333704427, now doesn’t even connect. The parcel arrived with some paperwork but the return address is all wrong - it says Welding Road instead of Wellington, with just a postcode given. Tried calling the 08451297936 number and it’s the same story, stuck on hold forever with that “You’re number 2 in the queue” message. Going to send the device back and get in touch with the bank again, but since it was paid on a payment card, not sure how easy a refund will be. It’s disgusting how these scammers prey on older people like this!

I had a sort of the same thing happen with this number. A guy called Tom and offered me some sort of plan for £1.90 a month. Weirdly, I’d just put in a complaint to the TPS like 20 minutes earlier. Not sure if that’s just a coincidence or what. I’ve sent them an email to make them aware of it anyway.

We had pretty much the same chat that others have described here, and she even tried to offer me a discount since I'm retired. Still feeling iffy about the whole thing, I told her I had to dash to catch a bus and needed to hang up or else I'd miss it. After that, I ended the call.

I just received a phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Shaun. He claimed he was from the DO NOT CALL REGISTER and was pushing a free call blocker but wanted me to pay a £1.90 monthly admin fee. When I mentioned I’m a pensioner, he lowered it to £1.20. He suggested I ring his manager at 0845 129 7936 to feel more confident about it. I wasn’t convinced at all and ended the call straight away.

Picked up the call but no one was on the other end... Guess I was lucky this time!

Today I got a ring from this number, and a bloke called Brad was on the line saying I’d been getting loads of annoying marketing calls from places like India and the Far East. He gave me a number to call if I wanted to sort my name out on the do not call list. When I asked him how he even knew my number was being bothered by these calls, the line just cut off straight away! Definitely felt like a dodgy scam.

So this bloke rang me, and while he was chatting, I quickly looked up 08451297936 on Google. When he wanted me to give a password to 'secure' the call, I went ahead and read the top comment from this site out loud. Weirdly enough, he just dropped the call on me!

I got a call from someone saying they were with the CPS/TPS, trying to push a gadget that blocks spam calls. I didn't give them any of my bank info over the phone, but it was nearly believable because a) I’d just complained to the CPS about a ton of recorded nuisance calls, b) they said they were an official government body, and c) the constant junk calls had been driving me mad. Honestly, I almost fell for it. This sort of scam really needs sorting out, and I’m thinking of bringing it up with my MP. My missus got the same call earlier but was clever enough to say to call back when I was around. So, I looked up the number on Google and, of course, your site popped up, proving what we already suspected. I just got a ring from this number, but the person on the line claimed they worked for a company different from the ones mentioned earlier here. They kept asking me about nuisance calls, and when I replied that they’ve reduced quite a bit lately, she just said “oh okay” and ended the call right away. Bit odd really.

This number just called me and honestly, they’re total scammers. I wouldn’t share any details with them if I were you - they’re up to no good, trust me.

I got a call from this number the other day, some bloke called Danny was on the line. He chatted with my other half and started asking for bank info. My partner doesn’t even have a bank card, so they told him that, but he kept pressing with stuff like "how do you pay your bills then?" I always thought people on the TPS list wouldn’t get calls like this. Quite shady if you ask me.

Got a call tonight from someone saying I was getting loads of annoying calls and that their gadget could block them for £79 plus 1.90 a month. Told them to jog on straight away!

Today my 70 year old nan got a call from this number, some bloke named George kept pestering her to cough up about £80 for some rubbish! Absolutely vile behaviour! He kept ringing for more than an hour straight, but luckily my nan is smart and just ignored him. Thank goodness for that!
