I got a text from +447447329628 saying I needed to ring back urgently, using the same reference number others have mentioned. I called them back ‘cos I was expecting a phone call from my car insurance company. Only after did I realise it was a scam. So I sent them a message: “Scammer. This is a private work line and you’re not allowed to have my number. Cold calling like this is illegal. I’ve saved your number here. If you try to ring me again, I’ll report you to the police.” Had a bit of fun giving them a fright! I’m pretty sure these texts are being sent from various different mobiles, so it’s a scam set up to try and make fast money.

Got a message earlier saying I should ring this number as “they” had been trying to get hold of me and all that... The reference ID matched ones I’ve seen others mention, so that pretty much gave away it’s dodgy, especially since they never say who exactly they are in the text. Almost fell for it too since I’m actually waiting on a call from a company about now.

Got a message from this number at about 11:12 this morning. It said something like "URGENT: We've been trying to reach you. Please call 08448773130 today with your six digit ref number. Thanks." Thought it might be legit at first. I called the number three times, but each time I ended up waiting on hold listening to music before being told all agents are busy and to try again later. Feels like a total scam to me.

I use Three in the UK and I think this might be connected to a missed call I got from 07852981554. I also received a text from +447454922284 mentioning reference number 332187.

I got a call from 0745 491 7912, which turned out to be a scam. I responded by saying something like: "The so-called agent called ‘MMS’ never answers when I ring back. A quick Google shows loads of people have been messaged, told to call 08448773130 and give the same reference number: 332187. If you genuinely have any dealings with me, you’d know my address already, so please send me a letter explaining exactly what this is about." If you’re getting these dodgy messages, I’d recommend doing the same and also reporting them to 7726. Just don’t expect any proper reply - I’m not holding out for the post to arrive!

Got a text from +447454904254 saying something like "We’ve been trying to get in touch, it’s really important we speak today, call this number with your six digit ref." Gave them a ring but just got music playing and then a message saying all operators were tied up, just like someone else mentioned here.

If you're looking to do something about it, just send the whole message you got - that means the caller's number plus the number they want you to ring - to 7726. Your mobile provider can flag it as spam and hopefully help put an end to this nonsense.

Got a message on my phone from +44 7454 418848, something like what was mentioned earlier, telling me to ring 08448773130 with a reference code. I’ve reported it to O2 as spam and just trashed the text since it’s obviously from a stranger and probably a scam. It’s irritating they managed to get my number even though I’m signed up with a service to block these kinds of texts.
