We've had the exact same experience. There's really no clue as to whether the caller’s with A&L or what the purpose of their call was. They just want us to return the call. We'll hang tight and see if they try to reach us again.

Indeed, it's Alliance & Leicester that’s involved, and making a call to them doesn’t come cheap. This is precisely why a lot of folks prefer to steer clear of any dealings at the branch. I’ve made the decision to part ways with them myself - they seem intent on running a shambolic operation steeped in mismanagement and questionable practices. It's baffling how they remain oblivious to the mounting costs incurred, particularly when it comes to overdrafts. They appear to think it’s acceptable to let you incur all the charges while your account teeters on empty. It's simply outrageous!

Absolutely, that's the Alliance & Leicester. You can give this number a bell; it’s the one listed for their customer support.

I have absolutely no memory of this caller.

We appreciate your feedback and entirely understand your sentiments; however, it's not quite fair to group 1st Direct with the rest. While it’s correct that they lack physical branches, their personnel are so proficient that you’d hardly miss visiting one. We've got several bank accounts, but I can confidently say I wouldn't part ways with our 1st Direct account. Our relationship goes back a whole decade. Plus, they provide a genuine landline number rather than those pesky 0870 ones (just check out saynoto0870.com).

Santander's designated service line certainly comes with a fee when you ring them up!

Indeed, it is indeed Alliance & Leicester, and calling them can really take a toll on your wallet. It’s no wonder folks have completely given up on engaging with them in the branches; I myself am planning to part ways with them. Honestly, the whole experience feels like a shocking display of mismanagement-almost akin to a corporate heist! They seem utterly oblivious to the charges looming over your account, yet they don’t hesitate to slap those fees on as soon as you start trying to manage your overdraft. Honestly, it’s a mess where they’re still calculating their charges while your account is already in the red!

I dialled that number and now I’ll keep it in mind alongside the complimentary 0800 0688638. Don’t forget to use saynoto0870 for better options!

I received a call from a personal number, but unfortunately, I couldn't pick it up in time. They left a voicemail suggesting I get in touch with my bank, insisting it's not a sales pitch. Quite the curious situation!

Could you let me know who’s calling? My phone bill seems to be rather inflated at the moment.
