I received a call just before midday, similar to what Judy experienced. A woman on the line mentioned my name and claimed she was representing the Lost & Found Key Office. I informed her that I had not misplaced any keys. In response, she suggested I might be interested in a service to label my keys, supposedly to aid in their return if they got lost. I expressed my suspicion, suggesting it sounded rather dodgy. At that point, the caller fell silent, and I decided to end the conversation.

When, I wonder, will we see proper regulations to put a stop to this kind of nonsense? It's about time something was done to enforce better practices!

Today I got a call from a woman named Sofia, but her English was really poor. She said she was calling from the Lost and Found department. When I asked her for her last name, she asked me why I needed to know. I told her since I didn’t recognise her, she should have no problem giving her full name if the call was legit. She then replied ‘Smith’, but when I pressed her for the address of her office, she just ended the call. I managed to get her number by using 1471.

A lady with an Eastern European accent rang me up, inquiring if I was familiar with something regarding lost items. When I replied in the negative, she explained that you'd receive a tag, and if someone finds your belongings-like your keys or handbag-they can return them to you. Naturally, I responded with a cheeky, “So, you want my address to come and raid my home instead?" She chuckled and promptly hung up. I've since reported it to Action Fraud.

She proceeded to explain that they provide a tag for your belongings, so if you happen to misplace your handbag or keys, they could facilitate their return. Naturally, I couldn't help but jest, asking her if that meant they’d know my address well enough to pop round and help themselves to my valuables! She found it amusing and then abruptly hung up.

I looked up the company she mentioned - Lost and Found - but all I found were businesses with similar names selling key tags for a price, none exactly matching hers. My advice? Don’t waste your time with cold calls like this. Avoid returning their calls as those numbers often come with expensive charges.
