I just found out from Action Fraud UK that this number is dodgy. Someone with an Asian female voice called me, pretending to be from a TV company and trying to sell upgrades and discounts. If you can, block the number, but if not, just don’t bother answering. The scammers seem to be using numbers like “08447111444”, “02035190197” and “08001514141”. The callers reportedly speak with an Asian accent and sound like women.

Received a call from this number earlier. When I picked up, they immediately played a phony Sky advertisement before getting to the point. I had a feeling it was dodgy, so I decided to disconnect the call.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was Virgin Media, telling me my card was expiring and they’d post a replacement. Sounds dodgy to me because Virgin Media doesn’t actually give out cards like that. Definitely a scam, watch out!

Got a call like others mentioned, this woman said she was from Virgin Media saying my TV card was about to expire and they’d send me a new one. Then she asked for my address and I told her they should already have it. She went on to recite an old address I left years ago after an accident. Used to do those phone surveys years back ‘cos I was stuck at home and it was nice to have a chat with someone. Anyhow, when I told her my current address she just ended the call. Sorry about the caps, didn’t notice my keyboard was stuck on it - I’m a slow typer who looks at the keys a lot!

My elderly Dad got a call from a woman pretending to be from Virgin Media. She told him his Virgin SIM card was outdated and suggested an upgrade to his package. She then asked for his bank info, and unfortunately he trusted her and handed it over. Not long after, a man rang claiming to be from the bank’s fraud team, saying Dad needed to move his savings to a new account they'd created for his protection. The bloke sounded legit, and Dad bought it, ending up losing all his money. I’m beyond angry about the whole thing.

Someone rang saying they were from Virgin Media, trying to get my bank details to supposedly reduce my bill. As soon as I asked why they needed my info and mentioned scammers, they just cut the call.

My Dad got a call from this number yesterday. The bloke on the line called himself "Phil" and was chatting away, saying since Dad's a pensioner, he could get a free box upgrade and pay less each month. He sounded really nice and friendly, but then asked for Dad’s bank details. Luckily Dad was sharp and said no, as Virgin already have his info. Then "Phil" just ended the call. When Dad rang Virgin afterwards, they said they hadn't rung him at all. Please warn your loved ones about this kinda scam. These dodgy people targeting older folks are just awful!

He insisted he did, but wanted us to verify it. I informed him that if a new card was indeed necessary, I would reach out to Virgin Media directly myself. Despite his attempts to keep the conversation going, I decided to terminate the call. This, my friends, is a classic case of phishing and profile harvesting. It's crucial that everyone remains vigilant, especially the elderly, who might easily fall victim to such schemes.

Got a call from an Asian woman claiming she’d be sending me a new Virgin box. I knew straight away it was dodgy since we don’t have Virgin here. I ended the call before she could say more. Seems they’re switching up their scam pitches from “Sky” to “Virgin” now. Total con!

Got a call from some woman who was trying to con me! She said my Virgin satellite box needed an update and I had to pay, but I told her I don’t even have Virgin. She hung up straight away. Why do these scammers get to keep doing this? Surely they can track these numbers down.

Just got another one of those shady calls, total con artists trying to trick you. Can’t believe people still fall for this stuff!

Received a call from this number earlier today, claiming my Sky card was on the verge of expiring. They dangled a 40% discount in front of me as a reward for being a loyal customer. It was evident they had access to my personal information. As soon as they requested my bank details, I promptly hung up. A scam, without a doubt, as I found out after doing a quick search on the number. Absolutely horrendous that they were aware of my husband's passing.

What really upset me was that they even mentioned my husband, who's passed away. Proper nasty stuff.

Later, I rang Sky to check and found out it was a scam. Took their advice, then contacted my bank to see what to do next. This whole thing really shook me up; I should have been more careful. I've just had a ring from this dodgy number, which means it's still operational.

A lady with an Asian accent rang me up saying she was from the SKY viewing card team. She was trying to say there was a special discount for pensioners and loyal customers. She already had a load of our info but gave the wrong Sky account number. Felt fishy straight away. After hanging up, I got in touch with Sky to check it out, and they told me that no deals like that exist. Definitely a scam!

Received a rather similar call earlier today, this time from a lady with an Asian accent. She sounded quite convincing and had an impressive amount of personal information. She claimed to be representing the Viewing Card department, but upon reaching out to Sky for clarification, they assured me that no such offer exists and that it’s all part of a scam. Beware, everyone!

I had a funny feeling about the whole thing and told him straight up I don’t give out personal details over the phone. After that, he just hung up. Definitely a phishing attempt - watch out!

When I asked her for the account number to check she was legit, the call got cut straight away. Pretty clear scam trying to trick folks they reckon are easy targets.

I told them the month and year but when they wanted the exact day, I said enough’s enough, you’ve got loads of info already, I’m not sharing anything else with a stranger on the phone. After that, they quickly said they’d send a letter instead and then hung up. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me!

Got a call from this number once, someone claiming to be from Sky, but no one picked up when I rang back. Feels like one of those dodgy call centre scams, definitely something to watch out for.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from Sky's call centre. She asked if I was the account holder and mentioned my name. I told her if she really was from Sky, she'd already know I was the account holder. She ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam.

There was a lot of background noise, like they were in a call centre. They tried saying I had a Sky account, but I haven’t had one in years! Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I'm an active police officer based in Shropshire, and recently got a call pretending to be from Sky TV claiming to offer discounts to elderly folks. The caller oddly already had the person’s name and address before ringing and asked for bank info to change the payment method. I've reported it to Action Fraud.

This number claimed it was Sky doing a service check, but I could tell straight away it was a scam. Wouldn’t trust them for a second!

I got a call from someone saying my sky viewing card needed to be replaced and they could give me a 30% off discount. They asked for my bank details on the spot. So I called Sky back using a different number and they told me it wasn’t them calling and that the number I got is not theirs. When I tried calling the original number again, a voice said the line was closed and then it just went straight to engaged. Felt like a total scam to me.

I received a call, but as soon as I picked up, they hung up! I noticed it’s a premium rate number, so I’m not keen on returning the call.
