I seem to be plagued by a string of numbers that all begin with 0844 648 and the like. It’s quite maddening, really! I block one on my phone, only to have another pop up a week later that’s just a smidge different. It’s a never-ending cycle! I end up cancelling one, and lo and behold, another similar nuisance arrives shortly after... It’s utterly frustrating!

So, turns out this number belongs to Invomo Ltd ([#][#]gcicom[###]), but they’re basically leasing it to some firm that’s doing illegal mass cold calls. If you get a ring from this number, I’d recommend getting in touch with Invomo and letting them know you’re reporting it to Ofcom.

This morning my mobile buzzed once and then cut off abruptly. I looked into the number, which turned out to be 0844 648 0240. Just more pesky telemarketers, I suppose! They called, let it ring once and then cut off before I picked up. Seems like a total scam, especially after reading the other reviews. Not sure how folks ended up getting charged hundreds though. I've reported them to OFCOM, hope they sort it out fast.

Got a call on my cell a few times from an unknown number. Had no clue who it was, so I looked it up here. Really strange because I only share my number with close friends and family, no idea where they found it from.

Put this number straight on your block list. I missed a call from them and rang back, only to get some robotic message asking if I or someone in my family had been in an accident. Didn’t bother sticking around to listen any longer... hung up right away!

About ten minutes back, I noticed a missed call from an 0844 number. I looked it up online and landed on this site, so I'm definitely blocking it now...

Got a call from an 0844 number last night, rang twice then just stopped. Seriously, why would I bother calling back a number like that? If they really need me, they can keep trying for a bit longer. I've blocked it now anyway.

As soon as my phone rang, they cut it off right away and it just showed up as a missed call. Looking at other comments, it sounds like if you ring back, you get hit with ridiculous charges. Seems like that's exactly what they're after. You'll see the missed call, but calling back could end up costing you a fortune. Definitely avoid and BLOCK them!

Beware of this telephone con! If you happen to receive a ring from 0844 648 0240, it usually only rings once or twice before cutting off. The scammer is counting on your curiosity to make you ring back and discover what it was regarding. Unfortunately, it’s a ploy involving premium rate numbers - I heard of one blokes who ended up shelling out £250 for a mere half a minute just by returning the call! - Caller: 0844 648 0240

I've been receiving calls from this number that only last a couple of rings before they hang up. It’s always followed by a blank voicemail, which is quite odd. What’s going on?

I received a missed call from this number as well, so I decided to do a bit of digging online. I'm quite glad I didn't bother to ring back; it turns out it was a total waste of time and money! Bloody scammers from North East London, looks like they’re from Pakistan or somewhere around there, absolute lowlifes. What really winds me up is Ofcom and my phone provider, they let it happen and probably get a slice of the money each time. How do these muppets even open a bank account to steal cash? Banks are meant to do proper checks on their clients. These lot are obvious con artists with no real reason to be operating.

Could tell it was dodgy right away, they just called and dropped after 3 seconds. Total scam vibes.
