Got back home to a voicemail left at 2.09pm while we were gone. The message said something about a bank fee I supposedly paid, and for a refund within eight weeks press 5. Then it added if you've already claimed press 9. The message was really chopped up, just like I heard it. Since I’ve read not to press 9 on unexpected calls, we just ignored it and deleted.

Got a call around 1 in the afternoon from a recorded voice saying I had some sort of refund for bank fees. Thing is, I don’t get charged any bank fees, so I just cut it off halfway through the message. I’m on the telephone preference service list as well - though it doesn’t seem to make any difference!

Absolute scam call! They rang me about refunding fees on a current account I don't even have. Plus, they had the cheek to call me at 3am last week - totally unwanted and just plain harassment. This is seriously not on, BT or Ombudsman need to sort this out. Hoping these complaints get sent to the right people quickly.

Well, lucky me it was only on my home phone this time, around 11 in the morning. But it was still pretty irritating especially since I had an elderly family member in hospital then. I can imagine how scary it might be if this happened late at night. I just ended the call straight away. I get loads of these calls and when it’s someone real on the other end I tell them where to shove it, and if it’s a recorded voice I just hang up. Honestly, I wish there was an easy fix to stop all these nuisance calls.

Today, Thursday 2nd July, at about 10.10am, I got a call from this number. The bloke sounded really polite and spoke very clearly in English, but as soon as I twigged it was just a recorded message, I quickly put the phone down and dialled 1471. That’s when I found out it was this exact number calling. These sorts of calls come all the time, and honestly, they make me want to swear something awful - but the B.B.C. says you can’t cuss before 9pm, plus it’s illegal to use rude language over electronic messages, so I have to bite my tongue (I remember seeing that in Moriarty’s Police Law, 21st edition - just a couple of lines but I jammed them into my Sergeant’s exam!). I’ve also registered both my landline and mobile with the Telephone Preference Service. My bank don’t bother me anymore, so why does this nonsense get through? Just remember, don’t be fooled by how polite these calls sound!!

At just before 4 in the morning on 30/06/15, my mum got a call that startled her so badly she ran out of bed and tumbled down the stairs from top to bottom. Honestly, the phone companies could do a lot more to block these calls right from the start by refusing to work with these scammers. On 30/6/15 at 8.44 in the morning I got a message from a robot bloke saying "press 9 if you want to claim" before hanging up. These fraudsters are definitely cleverer nowadays, trying to trick us into thinking a real person was ringing. I’ve worked in a call centre, so I know we haven’t made any claims or plan to, plus cold calls don’t usually start before 9am. Nice try, but you’re not catching me out.
