Back in early 2016, I received a call from someone purporting to be from 'the pension advice service'-it all seemed very official, as they claimed to be connected to the government. After sharing details about my pension-such as who manages it and its specifics-they assured me they'd ring back with some expert advice. Approaching the big 5-0, I’ve started giving my pension more thought. There was a long lull in their calls until just today when the phone rang again. I decided I didn’t fancy these unsolicited calls anymore, so I began to pepper the caller with questions, aiming to put them on the back foot (having spent over three decades in telephone roles, I know a thing or two about conversational tactics). They fell silent and eventually hung up. I've got my suspicions about them-definitely a dodgy operation, in my view.

I've been receiving persistent calls on my mobile from the number mentioned above. They continuously request to chat with a Mr Monroe, despite me informing them countless times that this isn’t his number. I’ve expressly asked for my number to be deleted from their list, yet they abruptly hang up each time. This isn’t the sole number they use; after each call, I diligently add the latest one to my block list. When I attempt to return the call, the line rings a few times before going silent. Interestingly, some of the callers have a British accent, while others sound Asian, but as soon as I start questioning them, they always seem to disconnect.
