Those 0844 numbers are just as bad as the 09 ones for overcharging. You can reach Royal Mail through different numbers that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

I don’t remember ever ringing this number but somehow got hit with a £3.90 charge. I've been trying to get BT to block it for me.

Got charged £29.60 for just three calls - two lasted around 2 minutes and one was over half an hour. The caller claimed to be from the Royal Mail sorting office. Be careful with numbers like these.

Got a postcard recently saying I still needed to pay £2.50 because I hadn’t put enough postage on a letter. I searched for my local sorting office and the number I got was 08444740395. But then I checked my phone bill and realised it’s actually a pricey number to ring! Honestly, the Post Office really needs to fix this.

08444740395 is not the official Royal Mail number. If you look it up on Google, it might come up as Royal Mail contact, but actually calling it will cost you extra just to be put through. This number isn’t linked to Royal Mail at all. I’d suggest looking up the genuine Royal Mail contact on their official website and double-check the number before you ring. Avoid using these kinds of third party services that just add extra charges.

I called what I thought was the Royal Mail to ask why my post hadn’t been arriving every day. Later, I checked my BT bill and was shocked to see I’d been charged more than £9 just for that call. Honestly, Royal Mail seems to be totally useless nowadays.

I’m labeling this as at risk of costing you money since I noticed a weird fee of over £16 listed as an “access charge” on my phone bill. I don’t remember dialing that number myself, unless maybe I phoned them back after a missed call. Looks like it’s a real Royal Mail contact, but I found complaints about this floating around online going back to 2017 or so.

Just a heads up, this Royal Mail number looks legit but it’s actually an 0844, which means it’s a premium rate line. I called because I got a card saying I owed £2 for a parcel, but the call ended up costing me £5.70! Proper cheeky, feels like I’ve been scammed.

Beware of those 0844 numbers, they're proper pricey if you call them from your mobile. I ended up paying £7 just to get through to Royal Mail about a parcel that hadn't arrived yet. Feels like they design these calls to drag on ages, probably to make more money from us. Total con, really.

Its a real royal mail number alright but the call charges are way too high and the whole automated system is pretty pointless. I dont see how anyone can check a redelivery without paying a fortune. Proper annoyed and pissed off about it. They really ought to tell people it’s a premium rate number before they call.

I rang this number to check on a parcel and ended up getting charged £22 just because I was left on hold waiting to speak to someone. Honestly, it’s ridiculous! I rang this number to check on a special delivery parcel that never turned up. I didn't make a fuss about the parcel being three days late, thinking Covid might have held things up. However, I later realised the call cost me £9.69, so I'll be putting in a complaint to Royal Mail about the charge. PJ Baldwin

Bloody Royal Mail are a proper nightmare! They lose your parcel most of the time and then expect you to ring some expensive number to find out where it’s gone. What a joke of a service.

This month’s bill included a £5.45 charge for a call I had to make about a parcel that never arrived - absolutely ridiculous. I rang up to find out where my parcel was, only to be told they’d lost it! And I had to cough up for an expensive premium rate call just to get that info. Honestly, I’m done with using the Royal Mail parcel service after this mess.

Bloody Royal Mail slapped me with a £40 fee on top of my bill, absolute thieves! Took me a whole hour and twenty mins on the phone, and guess what? I got charged for every minute. I rang this number to ask about a delivery and it ended up costing me nearly 30 quid, even though the call was pretty short. It's shocking how expensive these calls are. If I’d known the price beforehand, I definitely wouldn’t have called. There’s no info on what the per minute charge is. Someone marked the number as safe but just watch out for the cost, it’s ridiculous.

I rang this number because there’d been no post delivered in my neighbourhood for over a week, which was really worrying. The lady on the other end checked the postcode and confirmed there was a problem. She mentioned they’d arranged a special delivery for me. But considering it was their mistake I was chasing up, I wasn’t expecting to get hit with a charge - and nowhere did it say I was calling a premium rate number. Properly annoyed, they fail to do their job and then expect you to pay to find out why!

I think it might be some kind of international shipping or logistics firm, but I’m not certain. I tried looking up the number twice; once it showed up as UWL, but the other time I got nothing. The call appeared on my phone bill from my brother’s phone, which is on my account, and it ended up costing £25.01 for about 48 minutes. Just a heads up - this is definitely a premium number and calling it can get really pricey. Be careful!

I stumbled upon the number 0844-474-0395 while attempting to reach out to my local Royal Mail Sorting Office regarding a Re-Delivery and Customs Fee issue. After rummaging through my directories without yielding any local results, I resorted to a bit of online sleuthing, hoping to uncover some reputable contact details. As I scrolled through various sites stemming from my search, it dawned on me just how challenging it is to locate contact information for any local Royal Mail Sorting Offices. Eventually, I managed to gather some info via "My Local Services" at this link: https://www.mylocalservices.co.uk/forum/8440-contacting-my-royal-mail-local-delivery-office.html. Although the details appeared genuine and trustworthy, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it might be linked to some sort of scam. So, I dialled up the number, under the assumption that I was connecting with Royal Mail. However, while waiting to be put through to an agent, I was informed that they were quite swamped and suggested I visit their website instead. But let’s be honest - if someone has gotten to the point of making a phone call, it’s safe to say they’ve hit a brick wall online. In the end, after roughly 25 minutes of hanging on, I was abruptly disconnected. It was only later that I discovered this call had chewed up nearly all my phone credit, which was over £16.50. What a right kerfuffle!

I stumbled upon this number whilst attempting to get in touch with my local Royal Mail Sorting Office regarding a rather vexing issue with a Re-Delivery and some pesky Customs Fees. The details were sourced from a site called "My Local Services" (https://www.mylocalservices.co.uk/forum/8440-contacting-my-royal-mail-local-delivery-office.html), which appeared to present credible and trustworthy information. However, I'm now leaning towards thinking it might just be a ruse. Much like a previous commentator, Miss R Lynch, who posted on 11-12-2018 (Report #2205369196), I dialled this number under the impression that it was affiliated with Royal Mail. I ended up on hold, listening to a message insisting they were experiencing high call volumes and suggesting I check the website instead. After waiting nearly 25 minutes, the line was abruptly disconnected. To add insult to injury, I later discovered I had burned through most of my credit-over £16.50, no less!
