Got a text like that saying my debit card was used for a big purchase. I double checked with my bank just to be safe, then reported it to http://actionfraud.police.uk. Would recommend anyone else who gets these messages do the same so they can catch these scammers.

Totally a scam! I called them back, which looking back was a mistake. The scary thing was they already had my secret passphrase - I never told anyone that! How on earth did they find out? As soon as I realised, I went and changed all my passwords and that phrase. I’m normally pretty cautious, but their number showed up exactly like my bank’s usual text messages, so I nearly fell for it.

I got a text from this number saying there was a big purchase made on my debit card. They said it was from Llyods Bank but when I popped into the actual bank, they had no idea what I was on about. Looks like a total scam to me.

Got a message from Barclays asking me to verify a transaction 3390-02 with the number 08443572879 to call. What are the chances? These scam artists must be psychic, I don’t even have a bank account!

I got a text saying £3390 was charged to my debit card and it was from Barclays. The message said not to call or reply. It seemed pretty genuine, but it’s a total scam. Problem is, I don’t even have a Barclays debit card! I tried checking on Barclays’ website, and the number they sent isn’t one from Barclays at all. Be careful, this definitely isn’t legit.

Today I got a message claiming it was from Lloyds saying my debit card had a charge of £3700 at O2 on 11-9-17. Since I do use Lloyds, I rang the number they gave but all I got was an international dial tone and no one picked up. After checking the comments here, it’s obvious now that it was a scam.

I just got a message claiming £3700 was withdrawn from my debit card and if it wasn't me, I had to ring the number they gave. What made it seem real was that earlier in the same thread there was a text that looked like Lloyds telling me to download their banking app back in November 2015. Quite a clever trick!

What really gets on my nerves is that there’s absolutely nowhere to report this. I’ve called pretty much everywhere hoping to get someone to do something about it so others don’t get ripped off, but no one seems bothered. Honestly, no surprise this country’s in such a state. These scammers just keep raking it in all day long with nobody to put a stop to them.

Received a message supposedly from Lloyds Bank saying that £3700 was withdrawn from my debit card, and if it wasn’t me, I needed to ring this number. What made it more believable was that just before it in the same chat, there was a text from what looked like Lloyds asking me to download their banking app back in November 2015.

It really frustrates me how there’s nowhere to report these things. I’ve called loads of places trying to warn others and stop people from getting scammed, but nobody seems to give a toss. No surprise the country’s in such a state when these scammers just keep making money and no one does anything about it. Just got a text saying it was from Santander about some unusual charges on my credit card, asking me to call this number (0844 357 2879). When I dialled it, all I got was put on hold with music playing while waiting in the ‘queue’. After waiting ages, I started to get wary and ended the call. I then rang Santander on their official helpline and, no shocker, there was nothing wrong with my card and they had no record of that phone number. Turns out it’s a scam number. These premium lines can charge a lot, so I’m not sure yet how much I’ve lost. I’ve reported the incident to both Santander and my mobile provider now.

Got a text from this number claiming 3300 quid was withdrawn from my Santander account and wanted me to reply yes or no. I called my bank straight away and turns out it’s a total scam. Don’t pick up or reply, they’ll just keep you on the line to charge you for the call duration. Best to just ignore and delete the message.
