Received a message on our company mobile. It was a free text: “The holder of the O2 number 07802xxxxxx has won a digital camera! Just reply PIC, no need to buy anything. To opt out of JVQuiz, text quit to 66033 (sent three times a week). We haven't responded or opted out; instead, we passed the email on to O2’s Spam hotline. Also, it’s a good shout to forward any dodgy messages to 7726 as a precaution.”

I've just received the exact same text message claiming that I've won a digital camera, along with a promise of three more each week! It seems they’re also suggesting to respond with 'quit' for some reason, but I’m utterly at a loss as to how to proceed. In the past, I fell into a similar trap by simply disregarding these messages instead of opting out, only to find myself with unexpected charges on my bill. What a hassle that was to sort out and retrieve my money! It’s astonishing to me that companies can operate in such a way.

We received a message regarding our company from mobfreemsg: It claimed that the holder of the O2 number 07802x had won a digital camera and instructed us to reply with 'PIC' to claim it, with no purchase necessary. There was also a mention of a JVQuiz refusal, stating we could opt out by texting 'quit' to 66,033 at £3 a week. We chose not to respond or cancel anything, but instead, we forwarded the suspicious message to the O2 Spam hotline. If anything seems dodgy, it’s advised to report it by sending it to 7726.

We encountered the same issue. After seeing that, we decided to delete it so that those individuals wouldn't ascertain it was an actual number. It strikes us as though it might have been tampered with by a computer, and once you engage with them, they can trace your number back to its presence.

Received a text claiming we’ve won a digital camera and need to ring a specific number, which turns out to be a premium rate line. We’re highly sceptical about it and it seems these folks expect us to message them to stop the incessant texts. What a right hassle!

Jim, we found ourselves in a similar predicament and decided to disregard those pesky text messages. To our dismay, we noticed multiple charges labelled as "text service received" on our statement-three times! It's left us feeling quite frustrated. We'd be really grateful for any guidance on how to go about getting our money back. Cheers!
Jim
