Received a rather odd call from these chaps. We chose not to respond, and it seems they couldn't be bothered to leave a message. If anyone could track down their location, I reckon a firm word in their ear wouldn’t go amiss!

Just a quick update on this matter. I've been inundated with calls-roughly eight or nine-from the same company, which I learned is called 'The Free Debt Helpline'. During a chat with a chap named Carl, it became alarmingly clear that they don't really provide any real assistance at all. I was considering flagging them to the Financial Services Authority. It appears they primarily just make calls to push other companies' services, if that makes any sense. I tried dialling 0844 251 0972, but after waiting a mere ten seconds on hold, I decided enough was enough and hung up. Carl kindly shared with me an alternative number: 0844 357 1654. Suffice it to say, I'm in the process of changing my phone number!

It seems like this was a scam aimed at snatching your personal details and duplicating your identification.

Right then! After doing a bit of digging, we've uncovered that this is a service based in the UK that effectively blocks all those pesky unwanted phone calls to your personal number. To get started, you simply need to register your number with them. What's particularly refreshing is that when you call, you get to speak to a real person rather than a faceless automated machine. It all feels quite straightforward!

Greetings everyone! Just a little tip that might come in handy: if you reach out to your phone provider, you can opt for a service called "Choose to Refuse." Once that's in place, you can easily block specific numbers from getting through to you. The caller will then receive a message saying, "The person you are trying to contact is not accepting calls." True, it’s a bit frustrating to pay for this feature, but it's far preferable to having to change your number altogether! Hope this helps!

I just called this number back after spotting it on 1471. An automated voice greeted me, asking me to hold, and then serenaded me with what sounded like classical music - I suspect it was Handel. After hanging on for almost two minutes, I couldn’t take it anymore! I dread to think what my next phone bill will look like with this little escapade!

This number calls me every weekday, usually around 1:45 in the afternoon or at 6 in the evening. It's the same robotic chap each time, droning on about some government loan nonsense. Does anyone know who I should reach out to in order to have my details removed from their records?

Received a missed call from this number earlier today. I've had a few puzzling calls from odd digits this month. Glad I’m in the process of relocating because it’s quite clear our number has landed in some database, allowing these chancers to bother us!

I keep getting calls from this number nearly every day, and there’s never a message left. When I try to return the call, it just goes silent, and it turns out the number is suspended. I have no clue who’s behind it!

Just your typical phone calls when it comes to identifying who's ringing you up.

I've just received three consecutive calls from this number, and I reckon it's the same company since they all play the same automated message when you pick up. During the first call, they told me to press nine if I wished to have my number removed, but don’t fall for that - it’s a ploy! Tried that trick during the second call, but it was a total waste of time. By the third ring, I ended up speaking to this rather smug, young chap, who claimed he was the supervisor when I asked to escalate my concerns. We exchanged a few choice words before I decided enough was enough and hung up on the cheeky little oik.

This number seems to ring my phone at least once daily, but there’s never any message left. When I try to return the call, it just puts me on hold with no indication of who’s on the other end. Quite frustrating, to say the least!

I'm absolutely fed up with these constant calls! We’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service, yet we keep receiving messages about government grants and debt. At one point, we were connected to a finance company-can’t recall the name, though it’s fairly reputable. They mentioned that these calls come from some marketing agency, which has also slipped my mind. We've tried having a chat with them, and while one of the ladies was quite pleasant, the bloke we spoke to was incredibly rude and just hung up on us! The nuisance of these calls just doesn’t seem to stop.

I keep getting calls from this number, but there's never anyone on the other end when I answer. Quite baffling, really!

I recently received a call from this number too. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to return the call, and they didn’t leave any voicemail either. Quite curious, really!

Might I ask, who exactly are these people?

Honestly, if someone doesn't put a stop to this, we're just inviting other companies to follow suit. It's baffling, really. What this company is charging for used to come at no cost with the cab and the CCCS services!

Earlier today, I received a call from this number while I was at work. The person on the line greeted me and mentioned something about seizing a government opportunity. I hung up, as it felt like there was genuinely someone there, not just a recording in a quiet space-there was even an echo! Part of me was itching to reply with "why not find a proper job?" given the scenario (ha!). Honestly, it didn’t seem important, so I’m not losing any sleep over it.

Greetings, everyone! Just thought I’d share a little nugget of wisdom that might be of assistance. When you get in touch with your phone provider, make sure you request the "Choose to Refuse" feature. Once it’s set up, you can easily block any specific number that’s been bothering you. When they try to ring you, they'll be met with a message saying, "The person you are trying to call is not accepting calls." It can be quite frustrating, having to fork out for this service, but it’s definitely preferable to having to change your number altogether! Hope this tip proves useful!

Received a call from this number earlier today, so I decided to give it a ring back. All I got was hold music, with no indication of which company it belonged to. After hanging about for two minutes without any info, I eventually hung up. Very frustrating!

I recently received a call on our home line from this number: 08448118413. The message and music were exactly the same. It’s baffling to think that being ex-directory offers little protection, considering how easy it seems for anyone to access our number. When we reached out to BT for assistance, they were utterly unhelpful, simply stating that there was nothing they could do about it. Quite frustrating, really!

We keep receiving calls from these individuals who seem to ring our elderly parents, only to hang up or remain silent. It's really concerning for them, especially given their age. It's high time someone took action to put an end to this nonsense.
