Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC, telling me I was owed money linked to some old timeshare scam involving a relative. They said I had to pay 10% tax upfront before they’d send the cash. The guy, calling himself James Wright, could be reached on this number for about a week after the first call. Now, when you ring it, you just get an automated message in Spanish. Definitely not a real HMRC number.
