Just a heads up, Albany Assistance is NOT linked to any phone calls from people claiming to be Albany Assist or anything similar. It looks like these calls are scams trying to get info about car accidents and injuries to drivers or passengers. Please don’t share any personal info if you get one of these calls. We've contacted the police and other relevant officials about these scam calls, and they’re looking into it. Received a call from this number earlier, but the caller didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. Quite perplexing, really!

Around 6 in the evening yesterday, I got a call from someone claiming to be from Albany Assured. She sounded like she knew everything - my name, address, even my landline number. She said it was about an accident I supposedly had recently and mentioned some third party legal expense team. Apparently, they’d got my info from the Motor Insurance Bureau. When I told her I hadn’t been in any accident lately, she said maybe it was something from the past two and a half years. I explained I’d had no car incidents at all. She guessed maybe my car details were mixed up somehow, maybe a simple misunderstanding. She promised to call back today at 6pm with more info but never did. She did give her name, and when I dialled 1471, it showed a local number. After I looked up the name online, I was relieved to find it was all nonsense! I hope anyone who genuinely needs help finds it, but it’s a pity they couldn’t just be straightforward from the start - would’ve saved me a lot of hassle and stress! - caller: Albany Assured

I got a call from someone saying they'd been sent by my insurance. When I asked which insurance company, they just said something about it being connected to the Royal Bank of Scotland, but wouldn't give clear info. They said I'd been in an accident within the past couple of years. I told them that was not true at all and then the person just ended the call. Proper rude and totally confusing.

They rang me up asking if I'd been in an accident over the last two years. I wanted to check the details they were seeing, but they said they didn’t have any more info than that. Then they said the line was cutting out and just hung up on me. I’ve never had an accident at all.

Got a call from some bloke askin if I’d been in an accident recently. I asked him twice what he was selling and he kept sayin he wasn’t selling anything but kept asking the same question. I lost it and asked what the hell he wanted then ended the call. Not even a minute later, he calls back, curses at me, then just hangs up!

I got a call from them once more on 12th March, around quarter to four in the afternoon. Every few months they keep ringing me, no matter how many times I try blocking them. I’ve been reporting the number as spam to O2 but it doesn’t seem to stop. They’re definitely trying to phish info. My name’s Ian, by the way - [email protected].

Honestly, steer clear of this number at all costs. They’re clearly not respecting data protection laws. If you happen to get a call from them, contact your insurance company straight away. And if the calls don’t stop, you should let the police know. Seriously, be careful.

Had a call from a very pushy and impolite lady who said she was from our car insurance company. She kept pressing for private security details. When my wife passed me the phone, she quickly ended the call. Looks like some kind of scam to me. - From someone living in Seaford

My 17 year old lad keeps getting calls saying he’s been in a car crash, but he’s never even had a car! It’s really annoying.

This number won’t stop ringing me, seriously feels like a con, they really need to put an end to it.

Never picks up at home or on the mobile - just a total pain!!!

Got a call from this woman saying I’d been in a car crash. I told her my car’s not even got an engine right now, and she just hung up straight away.

Somebody saying they were from my insurance about a crash on the road that I never had called me. When I asked what made them think I was in an accident at all, they just cut me off.

My phone keeps buzzing, started on Monday 11th August 2013, they call about 4 times then just quit!!?

Every day this number rings up looking for someone who ain’t even here, and when you say they’re not, they just hang up real quick - proper rude!
