I decided to give this number a bell as my online search led me to believe it was the DVLA's official line. I ended up on the phone for just over six minutes and 17 seconds, only to be slapped with a hefty charge of £2.57. A quick Google search revealed that it’s actually a service that connects you to various numbers within a bank directory, rather than the DVLA themselves. I reckon this practice shouldn't really be permissible, though somehow it’s all above board. Just another instance of being fleeced in good old Britain, isn’t it?
