Just got a message saying £800 was taken from my bank and to text Y if it was me, or ring that number if not. Thankfully I’m pretty careful with these kinds of scams and didn’t click any links. Had a quick look at my bank details and thankfully no money missing. Something that threw me off was that they spelt Barclays wrong - it said Barclys, missing the ‘a’. Totally dodged a bullet there!

As an employee of Barclays, I can confidently say this is a complete scam. My husband got a message earlier today alerting him that an international transfer of £1690 was initiated for Euro Cars in Paris. After hanging up, I googled the number and stumbled upon this site. What threw me off was that the message came through the usual Barclays link, which is why I didn’t hang up sooner.

I've been having a right nightmare for the past week. From the very first day, I tried ringing this number for over an hour and didn’t get a soul to pick up. By day two, I thought it best to pop into my local Barclays branch for a bit of assistance. Quite frankly, they were as much use as a chocolate teapot. I received a rather similar message urging me to ring 0843 886 9378 regarding an alleged transaction of £1200 at Ikea from my Barclays account. Since the 8th of June, I’ve been inundated with messages from the same number. I was on the brink of calling when I thought it prudent to do a bit of online digging first - and I’m so glad I did! Seems like the scammers are at it again. Just last month, I got another text from the same source claiming they were conducting maintenance during a specific time period and directing me to check out http://smrt.mx/R0b484i3 for updates. Not long after, they sent another message stating that the maintenance had been completed. It feels like a ploy to gain my trust, doesn’t it?
