Received a call from an 084 number which I didn't answer. Seems highly likely it's some sort of scam. Best to avoid!

I've just noticed a missed call from that number as well.

Got a new phone from work not long ago, and I’m baffled how my number’s already everywhere with these annoying calls. I reckon O2 might have shared or sold my info. They ring me nearly every day now, but I’ve managed to block them on my mobile. Can’t do the same on my landline though, which is a pain, and I’m thinking about paying for call blocking since the spam calls keep piling up. For now, I’ve just set all landline calls to go straight to voicemail so I don’t get too stressed.

It appears that Mr Simon Lewis Gilbert is actively acquiring mobile numbers in bulk for the notorious practice of automated cold calling, particularly targeting debt refinancing and claims for Payment Protection Insurance (PPI). Interestingly, while claims related to debt and PPI are purported to be free of charge, it seems his business operates on a commission basis, earning revenue from successful claims against some of the major banks and building societies in the UK. Notably, Mr Gilbert, born on 11th July 1975, has been a significant player in the business world, having founded and directed nine companies over the past four years. This number keeps ringing me on my phone, but I can't return the call or send a text. It's such a pain. Really hope BT or whoever can do something to block it. Total nightmare.

My 11-year-old daughter keeps getting calls where the person just hangs up as soon as she answers. It’s so annoying, especially since she’s too young to have any PPI or anything like that!

Got a call from them today around 5:30pm but it stopped ringing before I could pick up. Lucky for me, I rarely pick up numbers starting with 0843, 4 or 5 anyway. Though, I've noticed a few of these firms are switching to real-looking phone numbers now.

I’ve got this app called Dead to Me that usually handles calls like these pretty well. I’m about to add this number to it real soon.

I keep getting loads of annoying calls from douchebags - total spam.

I've been inundated with calls from 084383133 and 01414194380, plus a few from a withheld number, all seemingly from the same individual. They purport to be from Vodafone and were relentless in their questioning. After a while, I lost my patience and ended the call. I can’t quite fathom what their aim was-whether it’s a ploy to extract information or merely a roundabout way to amuse themselves by toying with others’ time. My advice? Just steer clear of answering!

Got a call about refunds for HSBC and Santander customers, told to press 5. When I did, a bloke picked up and started asking if it was about PPI or mortgage claims. He then asked for my surname before saying goodbye and wishing me a nice day.

Somebody called me saying they were from Media Source Africa.

I recently received a call from this number, and oddly enough, I got another call with a similar number ending in 1000 just moments later. I make it a rule not to respond to calls from unknown numbers, so I’ll steer clear of this one as well. That certainly clears things up for me!

I received a missed call from this number and found a voicemail waiting for me. When I called 121 to check the message, all I heard was someone saying "hello." Quite odd, really!

Utterly pointless call, just some absolute nonsense about PPI. I pressed '5' to indicate my disinterest and then promptly hung up. I decided to leave it be, letting the caller end the miserable exchange themselves.

When you chose not to respond, how could those individuals possibly claim to be anyone at all?
