I just noticed a £49.06 charge for a call to this number, which I definitely didn’t place. My call log shows no record of it at all. Thankfully, my phone provider saw it was linked to a scam and refunded me the full amount.

I didn’t even call this number, yet somehow I got billed £49.06. Ended up having to ring my mobile provider to sort it all out. Such a pain!

Just a heads up, folks. I dialled a number saved as RBS on my phone, but turns out it’s their old contact. Ended up getting hit with a £15 fee for the call. When I tried to get help, no one at customer service, fraud line, or even the app chat would admit this was their old number. I made a post on Facebook and eventually got a reply. Had to mention reporting them to Watchdog and HMRC’s fraud division before they finally admitted it was outdated and gave me my £15 back. They never told me about the new number when I called the premium line, which isn’t on. If you’ve had a similar issue with charges, make sure you chase them up and get your money back!

I didn’t dial this number myself, yet somehow nearly £8 has been taken from me for supposedly calling it.

I got billed £4.10 for a call I never actually made to this number. Pretty annoyed about that.

About 20 minutes after I lost my bank card, I got a text message. Right before that, I had just put some money into my account. The message said something like: “Thanks for using our service. Your RBS Customer Services phone number is 08436082198, save it. Terms at www.securerecord.uk.” I assumed it was from my bank about my recent deposit. So, I rang the number to cancel my card straight away. They asked for my name and address, and I gave it without much thought. They claimed to be from RBS, which confused me since I’m actually with Bank of Scotland. If I wasn’t in a rush to block my card, I probably would’ve been more suspicious about the timing and who it was really from!
