I had quite the nightmare with my ESA - they really scrambled things up. I decided to give them a ring, and the recording assured me it was free. Can you believe I ended up on hold for almost an hour? When I finally got through, the conversation lasted just a mere five minutes, yet I was slapped with a bill of £35.61. I can’t fathom why anyone would call such a premium line when the CAB could handle that for me at zero cost. Honestly, it’s utterly ridiculous.

I received a call from a number linked to the Department for Work and Pensions, and it rang continuously from 5 o'clock until nearly 6, yet no one picked up! To my dismay, I now have a hefty £32 charge for this futile call. It’s utterly ridiculous that there was no indication of such exorbitant costs associated with this number. I genuinely feel taken advantage of. There really ought to be a system in place that alerts you when you're about to spend more than standard rates, allowing you the opportunity to end the call to avoid being stung like this!

It’s the DWP on the line. Just a heads up, calling them hits your pocket pretty hard since it’s a premium rate number. I was on the phone for about ten minutes and ended up shelling out more than £2! I contacted them to let them know that I've reached pension age and, as a result, am no longer eligible for ESA, and yet here I was, paying to tell them! Quite the irony, isn't it?
